OT - How y’all doing?
How’s everyone doing? Not like superficially, but life in general? I personally am doing super well in life, couldn’t ask for more. I miss Michigan a ton, but try to make it up twice a year to see Grandma and a Michigan game. Used to live in mid Michigan and although haven’t lived there in 15 years it still feels like home. Economy fully rebounded there?
Not well amigo. Miss the mitten something furious. No path back for me unfortunately. Doing well in life myself but could be better geographically. You?
Morning MGoBlog’ers from Meckenheim Germany.
Business trip for a few days then back to Winston-Salem NC.
Wish the weather was better than 50’s and rain in this wine growing region on northern Germany.
Life is good. Son graduates from HS in early June, then we’ll see about a return to West Michigan.
Home home will always be Montague MI. Close 2nd is A2, GR MI a close 3rd.
Job is tolerable. About done with this thing they call “working for a living.” I need one last job change until I can call it a day.
Enjoy your Sunday 4/28 wherever you are and whatever your day has in store.
MGOBlue!
What do you do here in WS?

My early childhood years were spent living on Dowling St in Montague.
I grew up on Ripley St.
Off of Cook St.

MGoblue88, where in Winston Salem do you live? I am in Lewisville and also have a son Graduating....from Calvary Day School.
Kernersville.
My son is with Mom in Greensboro.
He is at NW Guilford.
Good luck to your son and his future endeavors.
In Israel for work, so super jet lagged.
Otherwise, doing great! Thanks for asking.
What city? I go to Israel all the time for work.
going down to a college football camp in a couple of hours with one of the sons. its one of those camps where there are a ton of college coaches and the kids learn a little but the real reason to go is the recruiting aspect of it. if its interesting i might post about it later today/tonight.
i hope you all are well, and for those so inclined, that you have a fine day of worship.
Would love to hear about it! What positions does your son play?
Have you tought about Michigan's camps? Having been to them for three years running, I'll give you a couple of reasons, even if your son is not Division 1 caliber. The instruction is second to none in the midwest, our coaches and players along with some MAC coaches (CMU, Toledo, Kent St) run a great camp and most parents say it's worth it and the best they've been to. These camps identify top talent obviously, but also most walk-ons get noticed here--- it's a thought, star at Hillsdale or walk on at Michigan. Your son gets one-on-one instruction from Gary, Bush, Bredeson, Uche, Long, etc. and most of these players really take it seriously. I would go even if I were not quite the star on my team just to hang with these greats and to be in the Stadium or Glick.
My daughter's going to a Michigan softball camp this summer at the suggestion of her hitting coach, who is a former player. She called Hutch and told her about my daughter, and Hutch said to come to the camp. I honestly don't think my daughter will get recruited but the hitting coach told her she might have the stuff to walk on. I think my daughter would probably rather be outright recruited and have the opportunity to play right away, but you never know.
scanner, do you know the dates of the camps? son is very interested. lets talk this week if you have time.

Well, I'm not a virgin, so I've got that going for me.
Congrats! Is your uncle also on the board so I can congratulate him as well?
I legit gave a daaaaaaaaamn when I read that one. Haha that was awfully savage.

Ha ha ha ha...
I was just thinking we needed another virgin thread.
Couldn't be better. Wife is due with our first on Friday!! On top of that, I'm lucky enough to have a great job with a really gracious company, so I get 4 paid months off to spend with my wife and our son. I feel very lucky.
You meant to say “weeks”...right??? Either way, good for you and congrats.
Depends on what company you work for, I suppose. My company offers 18 weeks of paternity leave after you’ve been there for a year. A previous company offered only two, regardless of how long you’d been there.
I got 40 hours but it's better than a kick in the teeth
Quite honestly, I was ready to head back to work after a week with no sleep. I love my kids, but I was not cut out for the newborn stage.

Nice. When mine were born in '03 and '05, I got ONE DAY.
My oldest daughter is 30. Husband was a medical resident at UM when she was born. He got the day of her birth off, went to work the next day and then took a day off to bring us home from the hospital— then back to work the next day. It was less than ideal...
That sounds quite Canadian my friend.
Dogs are the best. Enjoy your time with her. Never hesitate to skip out on events that she can’t go to, to spend more time with her. Someday you’ll be glad you did.
OP.. Nice thread. I’m doing ok. I have a bad cold or flu with sore throat was the start, then head stuffed, then draining and now in my chest. Mgo drs is that cold or flu? So this sucks, but besides that I’m ok. Glad you are doing well.
Hard to say, but it doesn't really matter at this point. Unless it started in the last 48hrs your treatment will be the same -- "supportive care" -- meaning symptom control while your body fights off the infection. Ibuprofen, tylenol, and antihistamines are my go-to. You can take all three at the same time, but pay attention because many of the antihistamine drugs eg. dayquil/nyquil contain tylenol. Also lots of sleep and plenty of water. If it doesn't start getting better in a couple of days go see someone in person.
If you have a lot of other health issues going on (diabetes, heart disease, etc) you should go see someone sooner, as they can make a common cold much more severe. Best of luck and feel better!
Thank you for that that, I appreciate the response.
I just watched the sunrise, so I guess I'm doing okay.
Thanks for asking!
EDIT: I reserve the right to change my answer after my wife's neurosurgeon appointment tomorrow morning.
OP asks: "Economy fully rebounded there?"
Question for OP: Do you have internet access?
Question for Jasper:
I have continued to find the reported news is much different than the experiences of those actually involved, hence the necessity of personal reporting vs listening to the msm.
So, do you believe everything you read online or that is reported in the msm?
Good morning! Life, like always, is a bit of a mixed bag. My father is terminally ill, but I’ve got a very healthy 3 month old at home. My company just let 150 people go, but it creates some opportunity for me. Life is kind of like that, a lot of good and bad. Hope all my MGoFriends are doing well though.
I will pray for you and your family.
I'm sorry to hear about your dad, HGS. Prayers for him and you, and blessings for the baby.
Appreciate it Comrade and Eli. GMB is an absolutely horrible disease. The doctors at UofM continue to amaze though in so many ways, so there’s always that.
Well, I made my first batch of beer today, so that felt good. Now I'm impatient to wait 4 weeks to drink it. Also kinda thinking about totally upending my current life and going to Rolfing school...
One of my fave movie lines, “I have a beer, take myself for a walk....” Love the muppets!
I've lived in the South since post 1977 graduation - in Texas and West Florida. Miss A2. My sister is the only family still in state. I don't miss the gray winter weather. Retirement is not too far down the road.
The sun is shining, the 2" of snow from last night (which is very pretty with all the blooming daffodils poking through it) is melting, and I'm about to have my first cup of coffee to clear out the cobwebs. It's all good
Well, I've been to many places, but Michigan is still home and when I graduated from the University Of Michigan (undergrad edition, for there was a sequel), I moved all of 25 minutes from campus. The economy in SE Michigan is, well, much better than it was 10 years ago, but still not quite as dynamic as it needs to be. At least we're working on it this time though.
Life is going well enough. Moved back into a position with which I am far happier about eight months ago and I find it quite restful - and I net more money in the process. I get to see more of my family and my zoo (a dog and three cats) that way as well, which makes me a happier person in general.
I'm splendid, thanks for asking
FIFY
where have you been, d-blue? did you switch jobs? hope family is well.
April 28th, 2019 at 10:33 AM ^
I did take a new position a while back. Also I'm took a break from the internets, moved way out into the country. Family is great. Couldn't be happier

Nice. I hate neighbors.
