OT: HBO picks up George Clooney’s doc on Ohio St sexual abuse
As BlowGoo reported in February, George Clooney is at work on a documentary based on Sports Illustrated’s 2020 exposé of a doctor’s sexual abuse of OSU wrestlers and football players.
The feature-length film will be on HBO Max. A release date hasn’t been set.
Although this is crap news for THE Ohio State University, please keep in mind it’s still a terribly sucky thing that happened.
Also, holy shit ... USC is in the Big Ten.
From the subject I thought you were talking about George Clooney's doctor. Been a long day
That's how I read it. And after USC and UCLA joined the Big Geographical Footprint Conference, nothing would surprise me.
Good to see, though. Painful as it may be this kind of shit needs to see the light of day.
(That's not the new name for the B1G, though, is it? Damn it.)
The Big Geo for short
Given the number of sports doctors who seem to be caught up in this and Clooney's own acting history, they should call this The Facts of Life.
Let’s hope the movie sucks and they don’t make sequels featuring Michigan and MSU doctors.
Looking forward to the review from Gym Jordan.
Maybe this will finally make Jim Jordan fave some accountability
I'm sure you're kidding. Jim Jordan is the biggest unaccountable, gerrymandering, evil POS in the state of Ohio. This definitely won't move the needle.
Can't wait. I'm sure Gym Jordan is not looking forward to it. Fun fact, I shut the door in his face many years ago when he was canvassing door to door in my town.
Each time I see Jordan's face on TV I want to punch my flat screen; and I'm a stoic.
It is hard to hold detachment in the face of such stupidity
Clooney doesn’t care that it’s OSU.
May not care that much of the topic.
But I guarantee he skewers Jim Jordan.
Stones glass houses
Probably a good thing to break the glass in this case.
Not that we're ones to talk after our own sexual abuse scandal, but I'm surprised Showtime didn't jump on this first since Showtime's head of content acquisition is a '90 Michigan grad who roots for and follows Wolverines football closely.
There's a UofM law grad at HBO Docs.
It sounds like people here are excited about this…like our issue didn’t happen.
maybe we should bow out of this one.
I appears "the excitement" might be more about throwing a light on a certain individual involved.
Sounds like you don't understand the definition of the word 'excited'...
Try again Frank.
Suggestion: Separate the issues. Hoping that light is shed on an unpleasant issue at another school doesn't require ignoring an unpleasant issue at your school.
Are you knew here? This place is toxic. A lot of miserable people here.
Like some others here have said, I don’t think Clooney cares one ounce about it being OSU or any other school. But he does care about a certain sitting congressman being potentially involved. A very, very outspoken congressman with some rather incendiary viewpoints.
If Goerge does as good a job as he did in Bat-Man I want my 12$ back.
At least Ohio State nutcases will blame this on the "nationwide conspiracy" to take down their program. MSU fans would somehow find a way that Michigan is behind it, despite Clooney's total utter lack of ties to the university.
CALLING ALL FACT CHECKERS: "Clooney's total utter lack of ties to the university"
Didn't he film scenes for The Ides of March at the University of Michigan? LINK
I meant attending or having family who attended, of which I suppose the latter is possible and I am just unaware. But I certainly wasn't considering every place he's ever possibly shot a film, as that would likely be a substantial list. In any case, the comment was mainly a tongue-in-cheek jab at our rivals, OSU's tendency to view everything as them vs the world, and MSU's obsession with shadowy Michigan forces somehow being behind literally everything that doesn't go their way. Have an outstanding holiday.
Apologies. I've spent way too much time cross-examining witnesses in trials. Speaking of which, if you have Netflix, I recommend The Lincoln Lawyer series.
