OT: Happy NFL Schedule Release Day

Submitted by itsbigcat on

I'm a planner. I love looking over schedules and planning trips, and getting up at 5 am and loading the car. Football tailgates and the games that follow typically make my week during the Fall. While we Michigan fans seem to get game dates up to four years ahead of time, the NFL has recently turned their schedule release into a bit of a holiday for die hard pro football fans. It bridges the time between the combine and the draft, and allows us to get that much more amped for football in the fall, to set our travel plans and then settle in for a summer filled with baseball and beer, all the while knowing that this great game lies just around the corner.

I can't wait to thumb through the Colts schedule, and to pick out my 6-7 trips into Indy this year with my friends and co-workers. Admit it, even some of you die hard NFL haters will be taking a glance at your local team's schedule to see how things will shake out this year.

Schedule drops at 8pm Eastern tonight with a special show on NFL Network.

May your teams schedule be filled with primetime games a plenty, as we get a first glimpse of this mountain we're all going to climb.

I am also very excited! The Niners were and always will be my first "sports love." The NFL definitely reigns supreme with my family and me, and I can't wait to see the schedule for next season!

I wish I was a die hard NFL fan like I am college. I just cant get into it for some reason. I do like the draft and the playoffs, but most of the regular season I find meh.

I think the Lions constantly disappointing probably made me love college football even more when I was young. I was a huge fan of Barry Sanders as a kid, but when he retired I just lost interest I guess. There's just nothing like a college football Saturday at the Big House, IMO. I would love to save up some money and, at some point in my life, make the trips to some other college stadiums. The best would be to go to every Michigan game for one season.

We already know the opponents, right, and it's just a question of where and when the games happen?  Even the Big Ten basketball schedule release is more informative, since you learn which teams you play and which teams you don't.

Seems like another ESPN attempt to manufacture an offseason NFL event to draw hype and eyeballs.  But I understand starving for football in April - for me it's college - so no judgments here.

For me personally, the NFL is just sort of "there", but I take a look when the schedule comes out to see the bigger games.  My hometown team is the Falcons, so I've been kicking around going to the last game at the GA Dome.

Also, sorry for double reply, but you can thank Arthur Blank for the early replacement.  One of the most clueless owners in sports IMO.  A new crib and a coach bro won't make fans come out to the stadium if the team is losing.  I wish the guy would go away but I know we're stuck with him.

When does the 2020 Big Ten schedule come out? At least that will be somewhat meaningful to the outcome of the season, unlike an NFL schedule that will determine what 8-8 team qualifies for the distinct pleasure of bowing out in the first round of the playoffs this season.
