Perhaps old news, but I recently learned they altered a William Shatner/Star Trek mask to create the iconic Jason one.

Michael Meyers and yes, the original mask in Halloween was a Captain Kirk mask painted white.

A great disappointment in my life was finding out my Mexican wife's family dgaf about DDLM. No ofrendas. No calaveras. None of that shit.

I have become obsessed with slasher/scary films for the last two weeks. In this week I have watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the Blair Witch Project, and Wolf Creek.
I am in a very dark place.
October 31st, 2019 at 10:55 AM ^
The original Blair Witch Project is one of the most brilliant movies of all time. Absolute magic!
October 31st, 2019 at 11:02 AM ^
It was interesting to watch it again. The first time I saw it was years ago when it was still kind of a talking point as to whether this crazy shit really happened or not. Watching through that lens, it was a truly terrifying movie. Watching it now, it is still a very impressive feat and very entertaining, but it does not have the same kind of transcendent appeal that it did.
Wolf Creek on the other hand...... man, that is a brutal movie. I thought it was going to be more of a garden variety slasher movie with some laughs and camp. Instead, it is truly frightening in a more existential dread kind of way. Recommended highly if you are into horror. Definitely not if movies tend to permeate your dreams.

Haven't seen Wolf Creek. I'll have to check it out. I saw BWP in a packed theater the week it came out. That scene where Heather finds the bundle with the hair and teeth.............to this day I've never seen a crowd reaction like that. I still get goosebumps! People were losing their minds afterward

happy reformation day.
go dressed up as martin luther and carry your 95 theses around, along with a hammer and a nail...
October 31st, 2019 at 10:59 AM ^
i guess i understand why some people would be grateful for reformation, but celebrating schism seems a bit odd in light of biblical calls to unity

somewhat tongue in cheek. not meant to rile anyone up.

oh not riled up at all...but i've had friends "celebrate" it in the past and I always found it very strange

I've got a giraffe onesie that's going to keep me nice and warm while I pass out candy from the porch. It's actually kind of chilly here in Texas today!

Already dressed for a party this past weekend - I'm not sitting in make-up and hair for another 2 hours for the trick-or-treaters tonight. Here's me and the wife dressed as characters from one of my fav movies.

awesome. Nice work there.

My wife deserves all the credit for the costumes (she made my suit out of duct tape) and make-up. I just sat in a chair and showed up to a party.
October 31st, 2019 at 11:00 AM ^
I am dressed up as the guy who will get home from work, work out, and then sit on the couch and play a video game while I ignore the kids who show up on my porch looking for candy that I do not have. Call me a Halloween Grinch if you will.
But honestly me and wife have done jack this year for Halloween, we went to something called Theatre Bizarre last year and that was cool, but I was not paying $100 a ticket to go to that again this year.

We got 6" overnight in the Iowa City area....the skeletons I decorate my yard with for the Trick or Treaters look like they're wearing Santa hats...
October 31st, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
That was from this morning around 7am in the Chicago NW suburbs. We're eventually supposed to have about 3" where I am. Not too bad, but a bit early.

Solid carving skills. Looks tedious.

11 year old did the bat. Tough, but not too bad. 14 year old was more ambitious with the lettering which was definitely tedious and challenging. Kinda messed up a little on the LLO, but turned out pretty well overall. Not bad for first time pumpkin carvers.
