Submitted by markusr2007 on

Yesterday new Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman decided not to retain former Michigan OC and Bears TE coach Mike Debord.

Debord is officially on the market.

FWIW Marc Trestman was a Golden Gopher QB in the late 1970s.

Well, lets not create a thread with latent DeBord bashing implications. It wasn't his fault The Bears traded their best TE for no reason what so ever and then didnt sign or draft a U-back. No one could work with what he had the last two years.

I'd rather talk about how Coach Hoke's brother Jon was one of the few coaches who the new HC retained and may be in the running to be the Bears' new DC.

From http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013-01-17/sports/chi-bears-marc-trestman-mike-tice-20130117_1_head-coach-mike-phair-linebackers-coach:

Another league source told the Tribune every coach on fired head coach Lovie Smith's previous staff has been let go except for defensive backs coach Jon Hoke, who was not in the building when the other coaches found out their fates.
I wonder if Jon Hoke just pulled a Costanza and made sure he wasn't around when the axes fell.

If Da Bears let Jon Hoke go (I hope they do not and name him DC) then Michigan should snatch him up. The guy coached up TWO All-Pros this year in Jennings and Peanut.
