OT: Favorite TV show as a kid

Submitted by Gil From Omaha on
What was your favorite TV show as a child? One you still remember? I just found out all Power Rangers series are on Netflix, so it brought me to this question. And mine was Power Rangers!

Fox afternoons were fantastic in the early 2000's. I was in college at the time and the 4pm-6pm slot in w.michigan was something like family guy/Simpsons/That 70's show/Family Guy. Unlike the rest of the day when people were spread out, everyone was packed near the TV's in the cafeteria from 4-6.

My wife laughs at me for this, but my sister and I loved Wishbone. Actually just started finding episodes online and am watching those with my 3-year old daughter to break the never-ending string of Daniel Tigers Neighborhood she likes to watch.

Godzilla Movie Marathons on the old SciFi channel before it went into the absolute crapper

Still have almost all of them recorded on VHS tapes that are just sitting around collecting dust. Its fun to go back and look at them because it shows me what moment in time I stopped watching them years ago.

So He-man came out when I was in college, it was at one time immediately followed by G.I. Joe.

We created an afternoon drinking game that consisted of taking a drink for every utterance of "He-man"  There were a minimum of 12 due to the commercial breaks & credits, and each episode could ballon into the 20s.  For those still functional afterwards, you drank eveytime someone yelled "Yo Joe!"

Those still standing then crawled down to the cafeterial to eat dinner .

I think those two sayings are forever burned into what remains of my liver.

There was a period in the very early 1970s where The Brady Bunch and Partridge Family were on back to back on the same network, and those were my favorites.  By the time I was 11 or 12, I had outgrown them.  I began realizing how contrived and condescending they were.  The Patridge Family was a bit cooler, but even as a child I noticed it seemed to be written by 50 year-olds who thought they knew what would be hip or cool to the younger generation.
