OT - ex-Minnesota AD Teague is revealed to be an even bigger ass
So, this come out today and suffice it to say that it's not a good look.
In addition to his other documented shitbaggery it turns out that former Minnesota AD Norwood Teague had been harassing Minny Star-Tribune beat writer Amelia Rayno for the last year or so.
Not to trivialize Rayno's ordeal but if you read her account it's very standard sexual harassment that should've gotten Teague axed posthaste and it's not surprising to see that his position of power kept him insulated for far too long.
Literally the only silver lining to this shitshow is we no longer have the worst former athletic director in the conference. So, there's that?

Colleague: More wood?
Teague: [sends dick pic]
Colleague: NORWOOD! Damn you autocorrect!!

Disgusting story but yes I was thinking what the hell this guy sounds like a 17 year old.
August 10th, 2015 at 5:15 PM ^
after seeing this guy, i'd kind of expect him to text like that, and to behave like.
I know they're mostly older guys, but when will these idiots figure out that you don't leave a trail? Everything in person.
Dude has emotional/mental health issues.

Dear University of Minnesota President Kaler, feel free to call 1-800-TOYS-R-US and ask for David as they should be tired of him by now. BTW, do you like sky writing?

Seems like a nice enough guy

I feel terrible for that writer. I'm sure she was excited about getting an opportunity to gain some fantastic work experience and create a good work connection with an athletic director. Then to find out that the dude's a creep and quite a terrible human being...that's gotta be crushing. At least he's gone, I just wish that he was fired instead of him resigning.

How do these people get these jobs?
August 10th, 2015 at 6:04 PM ^
As the great Brian Cook once said, sometimes people who are in charge of things are in charge of them for no reason.
August 10th, 2015 at 6:25 PM ^
Yes, but how? I must know.

"remarkable growth in gifts to VCU’s annual and capital funds"..."growth of the VCU brand"..."at UNC...an eight-year, $20 million contract with Learfield Sports and a first ever on-premises signage partnership with Wachovia in the Dean E. Smith Center"...
I doubt any of his references mentioned any history he might have had in the harassment arena.

Exactly this. He made it rain wherever he went, including Minnesota. Being a superficially charismatic, sociable, persistant dude is conducive to that. He just happens to also be a damn sicko.

The article describing the accounts of the two employees of the university that came forward is very disturbing as well - LINK. Here's how Minnesota ended it officially:
Kaler said there would be no severance package for Teague beyond the university paying for three months of health care. Teague could be paid $285 per hour — his salary as athletic director — for up to a month as a consultant during the transition. Teague also will be barred from campus.
It sounds like, from some of the Star Tribune's coverage, the choices were either resign now or live and die with the results of an investigation, which it seems would have likely resulted in his outright dismissal with all this on the table. Even at that, he is still the scum that scum scrapes off of scum's shoes.

Getting yourself banned from campus is quite the achievement for a former high ranking official. If there's ever a creeper convention this guy will be able to out-humblebrag most of the other creeps.

I don't think we ever had the conference's worst former AD and I don't think Minnesota does either. As bad as Brandon and Teague were, that title should probably go to Penn State's Tim Curley for, you know, that really horrible thing that happened there.
August 10th, 2015 at 6:08 PM ^
the quality of its AD's after the recent string of Teague, Brandon, and Curley. The conference could start looking bad. Fortunately, Michigan did its part to clean things up by hiring Hackett.

August 10th, 2015 at 6:06 PM ^
I wouldn't lump DB in with Teague and Curley. Sure, DB was a jerk, but he was not committing crimes like those two disgusting human beings.
August 10th, 2015 at 6:12 PM ^
Exactly. DB was incompetent, but was not involved in anything criminal. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing a civil suit from all the fans vs him for pain and suffering.
August 10th, 2015 at 6:09 PM ^
But she is fucking hot
August 10th, 2015 at 6:11 PM ^
Dude's a creep, no questions there.
Why is he not facing criminal charges though?
August 10th, 2015 at 6:24 PM ^
I'm sure it's only a matter of time before he faces criminal (or at the very least, civil) charges.
August 10th, 2015 at 8:29 PM ^
I'm a little lost reading this comment.
I maybe could see the school being sued by his colleague in the Athletic Department. But other than that, I'd be interested to know where you see a case here? The guy obviously needs to get laid more often, but there is absolutely no civil or criminal liability whatsoever with him hitting on a newspaper reporter. In fact, I guarantee she was leading him on in an effort to get more information and access.

I dont understand how someone who earns more than $500,000 a year in a relatively prestigious job, can not get laid the natural way?

I can identify with the young reporter. When I started out in advertising, at 23, I worked on a beer account, which is as male of a bastion as sports. I was the only female and I had to endure sitting in on casting sessions for girls in bathing suits and sit among men who mumbled stuff under their breath like it was a strip club. This was my job, to cast the right girl, the one who looks wholesome (all were in one piece suits, it wasn't like a bikini show). And this was a big national account, the largest US brewery, so the players had all worked on other big accounts. But the behavior was so incredibly unprofessional and intimidating for a 23 year old woman. And it's not like the actresses couldn't hear these guys. They weren't there to give some old guys something to jerk off to. There was nothing I could do but leave the account, which I didn't do because it was very prestigious, especially for someone as young as I was. There were other incidents, too, but that one stood out as especially awful.
