OT - Ed Hardy

In another thread, panthera leo fututio made a hilarious analogy to going to a party and seeing a guy wearing an Ed Hardy shirt. It was funny, but then I wondered - what is it about Ed Hardy that screams douche?

This post is semi-serious - where the hell did Ed Hardy come from? I'd never heard of it, and suddenly its all over the place. Moreover, who wears it? Is it just people who want to emulate Jon Gosslin?

I don't really understand the culture/image associated with EH. What does EH try to portray?

Ed Hardy is the Douche Bag's Uniform. I can't put my finger on it either, but it does scream douche baggery more than anything.

A guy I work with once wore an Ed Hardy Shirt, Jeans and Uggs (the Male version)to a party once.....that was the epitome of weird.

All EH needs to be burned. burn, baby, burn.

I am genetically required to hate Ed Hardy clothing and the d-bags who wear it.

I first noticed Ed Hardy when I was at a TJ Maxx (yeah, I try to buy my stuff at discounts). One time there were suddenly a bunch of racks with tattoo/biker looking clothing. I was like "WTF is that?" and only later did I realize that it's a "premium brand" or whatever.

I don't think I've ever known anyone who wears it, which is why I need to resort to this blog to try to understand it.

Oh, and the idea of an Ed Hardy themed party is hilarious. If I understood this trend better, then I'll bet I'd have such a party because it sounds hilariously ironic.

Where I live the people who wear Ed Hardy is usually Persian guys with copious amounts Aqua Di Gio cologne. I personally don't understand the aesthetic appeal of the Ed Hardy brand.

Shirts like Ed Hardy, Affliction, etc. causes me to have a seizure when I look at them. Affliction doesn't bother me as much because people who wear them are sometimes actually fighters. Either way the whole bro Tap Out thing is pretty annoying in Southern California.
