OT: Did the wins breaking a streak like MSU or OSU bring closure to you?

Submitted by WingsNWolverines on
Closure means to finally end something and bring relief to that ending. To Michigan fans closure meant beating OSU finally in 2011 for the first time in 7 years and beating State for the 1st time since 2007. To me though that win vs MSU for whatever reason did not bring closure to me as a fan. It felt more like "whew that was close" vs "FUCK YEAH WE BEAT STATE." It felt like relief was given but not satisfaction. I know this is the new season and we'll fight them twice at their place in EL but does anybody else feel like beating them in EL will finally bury those horrific memories from 2008 to 2011 vs them? Same question if we beat OSU in 2014 in Columbus. I had closure after the 2011 game vs Ohio St but last year vs State, I don't know it just felt like relief instead of satisfaction.

Closure? There won't be any closure until Sparty fans are reminded of who they really are and stop tossing out phrases like 4 out of 5 (reference to their record against us the last 5 years) as if it didnt take the biggest collapse in Michigan football history to do it. We have to humble them at least another 3 years. Winning twice in EL will help. Far as Ohio goes, im a long way from closure about that losing streak as well. We are going to have to start winning much more frequently to get that bad taste out of our mouths

We could beat them ten times in a row, and all it takes is one loss to hate them again.  So long as we keep playing, how can there be closure?  There's always another battle on the horizon.

2011 was incomplete only because of the state yr.  And, I know many will laugh because our team was no where near ready for it....but consider the fact that they were literally a couple plays from being undefeated..........Iowa was quite literally 2 plays...  and Msu was the same, quite literally a couple plays..........

None of us would have thought they were ready but...from my perspective at that time it let me put the burden down of the RR era..

Also, I carry nothing from 2004 - 2006 I really didn't.  From 2007 though, it felt like an eternity...like being on the ship going down and you can't fix it.....you know you have a life raft and will be fine but you can't fix it.............that was 2007-2010 for me...............

...but I'll answer the question in the title.

No.

For similar, but different reasons.

MSU - We own them, and we always should. I don't refer to them as "little brother," but that's what I think they are. Period. They should never win more than 3 times in a decade. Hell, they shouldn't win at all, but that's probably not realistic. Until we roll off 4-5 straight I won't be satisfied. No mercy.

Ohio - I've looked at their run in 2 different ways...in one, they just plain dominated us. But two, it was filled with lies and scandal, which makes me somewhat dismiss it. I don't feel like Michigan won, or Ohio didn't...it just takes some of the sting off that a normal loss to Ohio would have. That said, the Hoke era is a completely new era for me. Hoke needs to win his era. I'd like for him to be at LEAST +2 by the time he leaves Michigan. I'd obviously, prefer something like 10-5. Well, I'd prefer he be 14-1, but I'm trying to be realistic.
