OT: Derek Kief Picks Alabama
rejected him due to his use of "adieu" in place of "ado". They do have their standards, right?
suck it, urban
We showed some interest early on, but an offer never came.
Michigan probably would have been in the mix if the coaches offered, but they never did.
According to 247, there was nominal interest from Michigan but no recorded offer to Kief, although it does list Mark Smith as having recruited him. The offers themselves (aside from the winner - Alabama) were from Arkansas, Boston College, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Connecticuit, Illinois, Indiana, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio (MAC Version), Ohio State, Toledo, UCF, Vanderbilt, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
He seems to be a lot like Drake Harris. Maybe the coaches thought there was more of a need at other positions, especially given the limited amount of space in this class.
Didn't seem to have the speed that Harris has. Reminds me of a more polished Mo Ways.
Would guess that with Harris and Ways, someone like Kief wouldn't necessarily be a need with our limited schollys.
PS I like schadenfreude as much as the next guy, but the 11w guys/gals were pretty levelheaded about Kief.
Yeah, Kief is a tall possession receiver. Harris is definitely more explosive.
I wouldn't define it as "ridiculous." He has good hands and catches the ball well in traffic. But as an athlete (speed, leaping ability, change of direction, etc.), I just don't find him that appealing.
They even got turned down by the hand. It's going to be a long night for them.
not attending a Big Ten school. Carry on
So do I. It's one my favorites. I should probably diversify my wardrobe a bit. I wear too many RL Polos. I think I have like 10+.
Seven days can change.
A stand-up homey now you sit down to aim.
it will be the fastest average class in ncaa history!!
It's never enough on this board. And we're supposed to have the smart fans.
Dude, it was a joke. Can you not see the obvious sarcasm?
Apparently Alabama also recently offered Damon Webb. Hope he at least visits so we can enjoy an Ohio meltdown.
Urb: What are my chances?
Kief: Not good.
Urb: You mean not good like....... one out of a hundred?
Kief: I'd say more like one out of a million.
Urb: (pause) So you're telling me there's a chance....... YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

My observation is that Ohio is experiencing the same thing Michigan suffered through during the Rich Rod debacle. Most top level offensive recruits don't want to play in a spread scheme. Hoping they have as much luck as we did with it in the B1G.
It kind of makes sense in terms of results, but how do we explain that Meyer had no problem getting talent at Florida? Also, wouldn't people just want to go where they can be successful/get to the next level? Or are we positing that the lack of success of Meyer's guys in the NFL is finally catching up to him?
