OT: Current Michigan Students

Submitted by JimBobTressel-0 on
Whats up everyone. This board is largely composed of alumni, but every now and then I see undergrads/grad students popping up. Time to tap into these resources!! Everyone could introduce themselves...stay anonymous, but discuss major / year. Maybe we could even get a MGoBlog seating section in the big house. I'm an IOE major, class of 2010. I'll be graduating after an extra semester though. I just learned today I can't study abroad like I planned to because Industrial and Operations Engineering is such a unique major....bummer.

Yeah I can definitely see how MGoBlog would've affected my studies at Umich; very addicting. Then again, my places of study were Good Time Charlie's, Ashley's, Mitch's, Heidelberg, and The Brown Jug, so instead of a little school work and the bars, it would've been MGoBlog and the bars. Crazy that most of my old hangout spots have changed or are gone.

I'm an MSE major, class of 2011, though I'm thinking of staying an extra year to either get a masters in MSE or double-major with ME. I'm also in the MMB, so no MGoBlog seating for me.

I'm a MSE and ChemE double major, class of 2009 (so both a "wooo" and a "booo" that I'm graduating this year). Since I'm graduating, obviously an MGoSeatingGroup wouldn't be much use for me. I would be interested in an MGoBlog group of fans (students and non-students alike) for the spring game. Hopefully when that gets closer something will happen with that. And if anyone is looking to hire an MSE or ChemE major, I know of one that's not too shabby...

a "wal-mart wolverine" because somehow it's wrong to root for a team of another school. I'm a Central Michigan student, Fall 2009, Journalism major. For the record, Michigan was my favorite team from the time I turned 8. By the time I was heading to college (18 years old), that was 10 years of watching football. You don't just abandon your team after 10 years of loyalty just because you go to another school that isn't Michigan. And that's my rant on idiotic arguments I've heard from State fans. Thanks for listening. Go Blue!

It tells so much of the Spartan condition, the "wal mart wolverine" meme. I think it is a manifestation of their envy, that they do not have a contingent of fans who do not have direct connections to the school... partly because it is easier to get into State than UM, but mostly because they suck.

Tell me about it. I went to State so I heard it all the time. I double majored in Physiology and Biochemistry and went there because I received scholarship money. All my siblings have gone, or are currently attending UM as did a couple of my uncles. I was born blue and made it known when I was at MSU. My best memory of shoving it to the MSU fans was in 2005 after UM beat MSU in overtime at EL. I lived in an apartment that faced Harrison St. where many of the tailgaters and fans would walk by as they were going either to the game or back to their cars. After the game, there were swarms of people walking back to their cars pissed off that MSU lost, so I decided to put my stereo speakers up to my window and start blasting Hail to the Victors. The looks on people's faces was priceless and much to my surprise, there wasn't much backlash outside of the curse words and middle fingers thrown my way.

Graduate of Grand Valley in Computer Information Systems w/ a Business minor, class of 2008. Been rooting for the Wolverines since birth. My grandpa graduated from M in the 40s, and passed his love of all of things Michigan onto me. He's been a season-ticket holder for nearly 40+ years, and I've gone to at least one game a year since I was in middle school. I, too, have heard all the "arguments" against M fans who don't attend Michigan, that we can't be "real" fans and all that. And it's always from a Sparty. FTR, I know people who were denied at GV and admitted to MSU. P.S. I dream of attending grad school at M.

CMU grad here too. Double Major in CS and Phy Sci Dec 2005. Grew up a M fan, not sure I'd have the grades to get in at M; I never applied. Plus, I was poor then and needed to go to school on a budget. I'm here because all of my friends are rabid State fans or alumni and I can't talk sports with them w/out the Napoleon Syndrome kicking in.

Actually, the J-School was axed almost 20 years ago (either 1990 or '91, I'm quite certain). The Michigan Daily has been our de facto journalism school since then.

I'm with you on that one. I've been a Michigan fan since I was old enough to watch football, but I didn't go to Michigan. I went to pretty exclusive small private college instead. The way I look at it, since my school didn't have big time football I never had to make a choice between cheering for Michigan and my school. In other words, my Michigan fan credentials remain untarnished despite the fact that I went to another school. I can't complain about it because it gave me the opportunity to play hockey at the college level.

Class of 2011. I decided i'm going to transfer to engineering where i want to do CSE. If that doesn't pan out, i'll just do CS through LSA, but either way i'm going to be here a couple extra semesters. mgoblog is a major contributor to my less-than-stellar GPA and a big reason why i'm not going to do well on my math exam in 3 hours. I should probably go cram for that.

I received my BS in Anthropology-Zoology from Michigan in 2007 Currently working on two masters degrees in healthcare stuff, will be done in 2010 I love it here, as you might tell! Football was a factor in my decision to stay here for grad school, probably to a degree that would indicate to some ... an unhealthy state of mind And for the record, there is a negative correlation between my exposure to Mgoblog and grades

I must have set a record for the number of hours on Mgoblog from the Dude. Graduated with a MS in EE April 08. Winter 08 was the good times... flew out to California every other week to "interview." Spent the rest of the week on Mgoblog, and barely scraped together a passing GPA :)

I was in 1010 DOW when that happened, it was nuts. The lights flickered on and off for about three seconds while what sounded like a generator above our heads ground to a screeching halt. It tried going again over the next few minutes but never did - that was when people in orange vests said, essentially, GTFO.

If this site had existed when I was in school, I would have spent hours arguing for Brady over Henson as well as the fact that people need to lay off a young John Navarre a bit. As it stood, I just argued with my roommates as well as random strangers on the street.

Class of 2k9. Originally class of 2k7 but I took two years off (similar to WolverSwede). I'm a double major: Computer Science Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Sciences Unfortunately I'll probably be spending my Saturdays in California next year instead of at Michigan Stadium. :(

posting on Mgoblog. But . . . born in Ann Arbor, Dad taught at UM, eldest daughter just graduated from UM. Sad to think my Rice Owls probably would have spanked the Wolverines this year.

Grew up in Ann Arbor. I can hear the stadium from my backyard on game days. I go to Kalamazoo College now, Class of 2012, but it's not like they're a threat for my allegiances. We're not even in the NCAA.
