I don't get the Cubs move either. The Cubs have the 3rd highest winning percentage in the MLB since Maddon was hired. He took them to 4 straight playoffs and won the WS after over a 100 year drought. The MLB playoffs are pretty much a crap shoot similar to the Stanley Cup Playoffs so them feeling entitled to constant WS success after 100 years of ineptitude does seem like a decision lacking in common sense.

It's pretty amazing .  I remember when he was still the Tigers manager a few years back, and Buster Onley was getting interviewed on a local radio show and he said how "Believe it or not, if the Tigers fired Brad Ausmus, he'd find a job very quickly as he's very well respected in the baseball community".   The host, along with probably a lot of the listeners, just chuckled at Onley's statement at the time...

I don't root for a guy to lose his job, but it always  pissed me off what an asshole he was to the public in Detroit every time his shitty managing got questioned.

If you hire and fire a manager within one year, you should lose your job. Unless there are some circumstances that were impossible to predict when you hired him. I don’t know what those would be, but I’m sure it’s possible.

Brad Ausmus had Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, David Price, and Rick Porcello on the same pitching staff and didn't win a playoff game.

The fact that another team ever gave him a chance to manage is mind blowing.

The only thing the Angels didn't get right was not firing the GM that hired Ausmus. Who in their right mind could look at the job he did in Detroit and say he did a good job and was worth running their ball club. The guy was loaded with talent in Detroit and found a way to screw it up. Never saw the a less engaged manager. My only picture of him was sitting with his feet on the rail spitting between his teeth watching the game like a disinterested fan.
