OT: Bond (Alabama WR, sophomore) transfers to Texas
Looks like he didn't play against Texas in 2022, so personally has a 2 game losing streak to Texas and Michigan. Let's make it 3!
It's a good choice for him personally. Texas losing WRs (top 2 I think?) and Ewers returning. One imagines there was some NIL money in there too.

We meet again, Mr. Bond.

I heard he likes his protein drinks shaken, not stirred.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:23 PM ^
I hear Texas offered him Pussy Galore if he came there.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:33 PM ^
Better that than Octopussy.

You mean....
January 14th, 2024 at 3:34 PM ^
Yea UT loses their top 5 pass catchers (including rbs) and I'm sure he is getting plenty of $$$
January 14th, 2024 at 3:36 PM ^
Top 5!! Wow that's a lot. We might be losing all but one of our top (6, 7?) though.

Alabama transfer wide receiver Isaiah Bond has committed to Texas, which he called a "business decision" in the wake of coach Nick Saban's retirement.
"Just like the business world, you make the best decision for your company," Bond told ESPN in a phone interview Sunday. "My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I'm putting myself in position to increase that and have better draft stock."
He doesn't seem to have great faith in Milroe.
Also: You're never going to get any of the rah-rah "The Team ,The Team, The Team" stuff out of Bond. He's a pure mercenary.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:38 PM ^
I think Milroe will do very well next year. Michigan may have exposed a lot of issues but our D-line performance this year is unlikely to be matched by anyone in 2024.

He's a pure mercenary.
he loves GOOOOOOOOOOOOLD

First off, kid has every right to make his own decision. So good for him for trying to maximize his success.
Things change, and that's the way it is. But damn if I don't have nostalgia for the old days. Member when being part of a team had value and taught lessons, compared to now where it's 'what can I do to get mine?' Again, I don't fault him, it's just the way things are now.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:20 PM ^
lol no, it’s always been like that except now players have more rights and a voice.
January 14th, 2024 at 5:35 PM ^
Lol it hasn't. For example, players used to play in 'meaningless' bowl games.
Once again, I don't fault any player for not risking injury and future earnings. I'm not in their position so it's unfair for me to criticize. I do forsee a future where we get to players sitting out the rest of a season once eliminated from playoff contention, to 'prepare for the draft.'
Things change, and that's the way it goes. Doesn't mean I have to think it's good.

So any player that transfers is a “mercenary.” Got it.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:42 PM ^
He got a leased Lamborghini out of it.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:42 PM ^
Not an Aston Martin?
January 14th, 2024 at 6:30 PM ^
That's fine. As long as it wasn't a cheeseburger they'll be fine.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:44 PM ^
Well, you only live twice. Might as well see what the transfer portal has to offer.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:02 PM ^
It's no skyfall for Alabama as they'll rebuild fine with Deboer. It's just a casino royale out there with the transfer portal.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:16 PM ^
He's a good coach. I'm sure it gives their fans a quantum of solace.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:30 PM ^
And he'll scare the living daylights out of their rivals.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:29 PM ^
Going to Texas for some thunderball!! And I say, he’s transferred once now, but never say never, again.
January 14th, 2024 at 3:58 PM ^
Texas promised him the jersey number of 007.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:13 PM ^
Yeah right. Next you'll be telling us there was a Lamborghini involved.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:23 PM ^
Excellent replacement for Worthy. Texas will be loaded for next year and UM will be breaking in a new QB and reloading in other spots - it will take a great team effort to win that marquee matchup in September.
Texas, OSU and Georgia have fired the money cannons to land a lot of top transfers almost the first day of entry to the portal. They are clearly committed to winning it this next season.
January 14th, 2024 at 4:45 PM ^
Nothing they do that we can't do if we decide to do it.
January 14th, 2024 at 6:40 PM ^
100% agree. We need 1-2 WRs from the portal, probably a QB, and some extra depth at various positions on defense for rotations (DE, CB, DT).
Priebe and Barham are really good additions and this staff does an exceptional job with finding portal fits. The selling point of “NFL readiness” should be a huge factor with portal targets.

Paging NCAA. Obvious tampering is obvious.
January 14th, 2024 at 5:12 PM ^
Maybe Ivana Humpalot sealed the deal ?
January 14th, 2024 at 6:12 PM ^
Those WR aren’t coming here to block…shit we can’t even get 5 star backs which is crazy, we develop 4 stars.

The tampering kings, Texas.
