I did not make this headline up
If they don't promote the OC and RR somehow goes back there, I would root for him to succeed 100%.
They don't deserve him.
It makes sense for them to do that...but I can't root for him not bc I don't like him, but I hate the product that was on the field that last few years that I will always associate with him
because it will be nothing but kids RR recruited. I find it hard to hate a bunch of college freshman and sophomores playng their arses off against upperclassman.
Your signature made that post very confusing to me.
but at least he seems like a good human being. I can't believe WVU fans would rather have a drunk, gambling, douchebag as their head coach...oh wait, I can easily believe that!
Disagree. You cannot have subordinates throwing one another under the bus, and blackmailing. He is poison and made a dumb decision which left WVU to fire him.
Holgorson is Stewart's subordinate, not the other way around. Makes a difference to me.
I guess you are right, but I consider "coach" and "coach in waiting" to be peers. I wouldn't want employees in my group selling out theirs peers, especially in the press.
him to be the next coach and Stewart is a lame duck coach. WVU instructed Stewart to help Holgorsen out in order to get a feel for the team, town, campus, etc. It's pretty much Holgorsen's team even as a OC because he's the next coach in waiting.
Yeah, if true, his behavior is a firing offense. That's just unacceptable.
It's not good, but assuming that the AD knows about H's transgressions and isn't doing anything and Stewart feels it's a serious threat to the university, what else is he supposed to do?
The obvious answer is that Stewart needed to go last year, WVU put themselves in this situation.
Talk about a guy who didn't want to lose his job. Hahaha, Bill Stewart.
Up next on PTI they are going to discuss how RichRod might be the solution to WVU's problems (seriously).
I blame WVU for creating that situation in the first place. Obviously, not handled well by Stewart, but who the fuck tells a coach "you're fired, but here, try and boss around your successor a little bit first." Really brainless decision.
from the moment I heard about it. Bill Stewart was promoted to keep stabiliy and based on a big bowl game win. Everyone should have learned from Sparty's example to never do this EVER again (see Williams, Bobby).
However, the rumors were out their about Holgorsen's behavior, and that is why many schools were backing away from him. Though I thought the rumors were more than gambling and drinking oriented. You don't produce the offense he did in Stillwater and then end up with no solid leads in a year when high profile programs needed an OC to put a jolt into their program (like Texas).
At the end of the day, the AD and both Holgorsen and Stewart need to go. RichRod would be a logical solution, and he can win in the Big East, and I think, at the right school, even a powerhouse given the right support, conditions, defensive coordinator hire (i.e. KEEP CASTEEL).
The situation is still a cluster. The offensive and defensive staffs do not talk...in fact, they literally are not even welcome on the other's end of the hallway in the athletic offices. Casteel is going to be close behind Stewart with the resignation (perhaps dependent upon feelers for a DC position at another school...Ohio State may be the only school with an opening this year). As for Casteel working for RR again...I think it is safe to say that not all of his assistants thought as highly of him as many on this board do. Casteel turned down the Michigan DC position 2 or 3 times. He felt RR was a control freak. Perhaps Holgorsen will get canned and Casteel will get promoted to HC and throw us all for a loop.
that you know about Casteel not liking RR beside hearsay and your opinion?
I don't know if he dislikes him, but I do know he turned down the DC position at least twice and quite possibly 3 times. That information comes from a colleague who has contacts within the program there... and I have seen some texts from assistant coaches (about the Cluster currently there...not about Casteel not wanting to coach with RR). In short, all I have is hearsay...if you don't want to believe, don't.
is Michigan is too cheap to open up their wallet to pay Casteel the salary that he wanted. Michigan is notoriously cheap with their wallet with regards to paying assistant coaches(that is until this year when DB hired Hoke and his assistants).
RichRod + Casteel is a potent combo in the Big East. I think the biggest thing people underestimated when RichRod came here was just how important Casteel was to his success.
I've thought that as well. On top of that, I also felt that maybe RR didn't realize that until he was in too deep.
