Nice to see 7 MAC teams get bowl invites ,including  the three Michigan schools (EMU,CMU,Western)

Whens the last time all 5 DI schools in the state of Michigan went to bowl games,in the same season?

To answer your question - this is the FIRST time all 5 Michigan FBS schools will be bowling.

EMU has only gone to a Bowl 3 times.  2018, 2016 and 1987.

In 2018, it was 4 of 5.  CMU missed.

In 2016, it was also 4 of 5.  MSU (ha ha) missed.

1987 was a much different era, in that only 1 MAC team would generally ever go Bowling (U-M and MSU both went to Bowls that year).

The sheer number of bowl games combined with their corporate monikers is overwhelming. WTF is a Camellia? Nothing screams tradition louder than the Bad Boy mowers bowl. Tropical Smoothie bowl? Come on man

I'm off work for the first time in my adult life. Severance package and another job lined up after the first of the year. I'm looking forward to really soaking in the bowl season for once. Go Blue!

I built a factory to produce radios under license and trained our local customer how to produce and troubleshoot said radios.

I had a great life there. I used to party at the Ambassador's mansion. In the US I'm another cube-driving clown.

I don't mind your skepticism - no one else believes me either!

Yes I agree it makes no sense. In years that the Rose/Sugar are the playoff games, it seems like the other bowls are all played before, and it's a big build up to the playoff games. Now it seems like they are randomly dropped in the middle of that week between Christmas and New Years, and it's not a special day for them.

I guess that it makes some sense that they're played on a Saturday, and I'm sure that the TV people figured out that it's better this way. And now the fan bases of the two teams going to the championship game have more than two weeks to prep for that trip, so that probably helps with attendance at that game.

If we ever sink down to the level of the pinstripe/redbox/quick lane bowl I hope we have the good sense to just say 'nope. No way.  Not going.'

I would agree (coming from a person whose team is going to one of those bowl games), except going to a bowl means you get a couple extra weeks of practices. Those extra practices can be really helpful for some of the younger players and help get them ready for future seasons. At this point this season's a waste and it's more about getting ready for next season, and those extra practices and an extra game can help with that.

Edit: there are also going to be seniors who won't get to play at the next level, and they've earned one more chance to put the uniform on and go play, no matter where it is.

Which is to say, that the TV viewership is enough to be worth it to continue creating additional games. People love football that much, I guess.
