Scales' father Von told AL.com that Alabama asked Brendan to grayshirt, delaying full-time enrollment until January 2017, and he declined.

back up plan. couldn't agree more. one of the biggest lessons in life is have a plan for everything. be prepared. think of different outcomes. not saying that this is cool, but we don't know the conversations and timing o of them, so I won't cast judgement.

We should throw out a late offer to Perry after missing on Jordan Fuller. 6'3, 190, 4.5 forty time. Offers from Alabama (somewhat), LSU, and Baylor. We could do a lot worse.

There will always be negative people outside the program. Only Michigan has rabid subversives eagerly willing to bash our own program with mere bread crumbs of information tossed down by one side.

I do not want an osu or psu football culture but that doesn't mean we have to Brutus our own head coach.

A lot of that is basic insecurity and psychology. By feigning this indignant and 'objective' view of the program, it's easier to distance yourself from the pain of losing -- in the actual games and the game that is recruiting. So by vocally expressing concern or objection all the time, one not only can falsely assert 'I told you so' but they can also say, 'yeah, I was afraid something like this would happen' Frankly, I'm sick and tired of the apologists in the fanbase. Screw OSU, MSU, and the rest - I want to start dominating and being in the national conversation again and know Harbaugh has the program going in the right direction. All the armchair ADs and recruiting experts whining all the time will soon be drowned out anyways.

I cannot speak for everyone on either side of the equation, but I disagree.

Speaking for myself, I want to see Michigan win but not at all costs. I'd like to see us win within the framework of the byzantine NCAA regulations and to do so by treating kids and their families openly and honestly... and that should be reciprocated.

I get great joy (and sometimes agony) from Michigan football and have done so for decades. Yet, I'm also a fairly accomplished individual in my field, and do not require Michigan winning like Alabama in order for me to have a sense of self worth.

"Lost" is an interesting choice of words.

I would have gone with "Cast aside like a Saturday night hookup at 6:00 AM Sunday morning".

News like this just reminds me that the run-up to NSD starts to look more and more like the days before the trading deadline in major professional sports with each passing year, except at the college level it is players swapping commitments for various reasons at the eleventh hour rather than teams swapping players and picks.

Truthfully: if this actually had any meaningful, adverse publicity then you would see 3-star types either stop committing to schools like 'Bama, or at least more parents refusing such commitment offers.  In the end, it does not.  As greasy as they may be, their success dictates that any kid would love to jump on an offer and take the chance of riding it out.

Hopefully, our future success combined with a classy meritocracy system makes us the more attractive destination for kids we recruit regardless of star rankings.

Teddy Beerstain is on it. He will get national headlines and finally show the rest of the country that he is..... Uh  still pissed over some dissagreement he and Harbaugh must have had when Jimmy played for the Bears. Meanwhile he will be hoping something goes south for Jim so he can feel better about himself.

Now any decommitments Alabama has from here on out can be attributed to this. Those are the rules right?

Guys - I know you all know this but Teddy Greenstein already addressed Saban in his first article, saying how Harbaugh is doing things "the way they're done in the SEC." Its acknowledged that this is how it's done down there and that it isn't the "right" way to do it, agree with that how you may. The reality is, Saban is also winning a bunch of national championships. If Harbaugh was on title number 2 or 3 right now, no one would give a shit about articles like his anyway.

Rivals predicts Bama to pick up 5 Five Star players today. That is just fricken insane. We have to cross our fingers and hope for a single five star to come our way.

And they're in on as many as 9 4* and 5*'s committing today. Who the hell cares if a few lesser guys have decided they won't be part of the class. Likely hey were told they should look elsewhere
