I would say that the MSU players will have a right to to upset.

Spartans get $425 Best buy shopping spree! Great, now they will be donning ski masks and stealing shit from each other to sell to Dion Sims.

Yeah, they kinda got screwed...

Remember when every kid got, like, an Xbox, a seven-pound watch made of pure elephant tusk, a set of luggage, and the legal ownership of a small Central American country just for playing in a New Year's Day Bowl?
Ahh, the good ol' days-- when Chris Perry complained of having to go to the crummy Capital One Bowl yet again...

Per NCAA rules. However, I will say they would devalue some of the merchandise, as if they got a deal on them or were valuing them at cost.

Microsoft Xbox 360 with Kinect; $20 Game Stop gift card; Kicker 541 headphones; Apple iPod shuffle.
I'd say this is spot on.
The kids that are going to the Valero Alamo bowl are getting that, and I'd say this is well over $500. On top of that they get a fossil watch, a mini helmet and panaramic photo.

For the Alamo bowl in 2005 they got a PSP along with an Xbox 360. What I remember about this is this was the year that the 360 was released for Christmas and I waited in front of Best Buy for 6 hours (still didn't get one) and then the players I lived next to (McAvoy and Mesko) get them without trying. At least I got to go to their room and play some COD 2.

Better the bowl, better the swag, generally.

These gifts SUCK compared to the Insight Bowl.
Electronics: None versus a Sony Suite (which I can only imagine is stock full of female Japanese models)
Watch: The maker of Tag and Brietling vs. Fossil. In some countries this would not be allowed.
Other: Sunglass/leather bag/jostens ring vs. a cap and ogio backpack. Looking back on it, NOT buying a class ring from Jostens is one of the better decisions I have made in my life. And I will always use the "leather bag" I bought in college. The sunglasses are a plus, but I'd almost rather have a sweet Ogio backpack.
In the end, these guys are walking with a pair of Oakleys, when they potentially could have had some Sony electronics, a decent-to-nice watch (instead of Fossil crap), and a sweet Ogio backpack. What a shaft.

Yup, definitely the shaft.

Way to beat those stereotypes!

The sterotype of people from Texas wearing pants?

would have to be extra practice time. for the last 2 years there have only been 2 practice sessions per year. This, plus the time to heal should be a huge help.

I think the players would like an XBox.
