OSU QB Joe Burrow to LSU
Per ESPN Joe Burrow, former OSU quarterback will be transferring to LSU. I would think he's got a good shot at walking away with the job there. There's not much proven experience there, but then again that was true at OSU too, so who knows..

Crap, meant this for the board. Should have just gone to bed...
Better than Nebraska!
I'm guessing Urban didn't sign off on transferring to a conference opponent?
It’s baffling that anyone considered Nebraska a possibility. They’re on OSU's schedule through the rest of Burrow's eligibility.
He wanted to start a bidding war.
I believe Burrow graduated early so wouldn’t have needed Urban’s sign-off. Could have went to Nebraska just as easily as LSU.
I might be wrong but typically you have to pay your own way to grad transfer within the same conference.
Burrow has the chest to play for LSU?
Sounds about right. QBs who can’t throw go to Osu and LSU a lot.
in their power spread offense.
He does look to have a pretty good arm (of which LSU surely won't avail themselves).
if i recall, Michigan went hard after him and was thought to be getting him to flip.
Yep, Harbaugh pushed hard as soon as he got the job. Was hoping he would join his dad at OU, but I don't mind him going to LSU.
I hope he lights it up at LSU and good for him for leaving that toxic osu environment.
Salary vs. Culture.
Wonder if he got a raise?
A toxic environment?
I felt like he never stood a chance since he wasn’t as highly as rated as the other QBs.
George Washington had to resort to executing soldiers to prevent it.
Another B1G backup QB looking to start in the SEC. I think this is the second BIG washout for LSU. At least he’s probably better than the retread they got from Purdue.
That 'retread they got from Purdue' was drafted by the Patriots
Danny Etling was nothing more than the beneficiary of LSU's utter inability to recruit quarterbacks. He'll be an NFL clipboard carrier and future head coach of a MAC team. Which isn't a bad life by any means!
I'm not sure what this means - because LSU can't recruit qb's, Etling was drafted by the Pats?
Double
LSU gets Bama and UGA in Baton Rouge this fall. It'd be great if Burrow could help pull an upset in one of those games. The SEC is better when there's more than two or three competitive teams - LSU being good is a huge part of that. Glad he chose LSU.
Florida will be much better off with Mullen, especially at developing a competent QB. Miss St will also be decent with Fitzgerald at QB and Moorhead calling plays. Tamu will be interesting with Fisher but I imagine they are a year away at least at competing with the top of the conference.
how hard of a job does jimbo have. incredibly high expectations. how much of Florida state selling itself was capitalized on by jimbo? i think he's got an incredibly tough road ahead of him. i could be way off base, thru could have a monster class already committed, but if he doesn't win early, he's going to be in a bad spot.
But at least Jimbo can console himself with a dump truck full of money in his driveway.
wanted more than Florida State would give. I think TAMU and those boosters are going to give him anything he wants (beyond his enormous contract). For a school that isn't considered like Texas (it's a very good school, but not public Ivy like), they have an alumni financial base that rivals almost any school in the country.
I think he's going to do well there. He's a very good football coach and an excellent recruiter. Give him a year to get his guys in there and I think they could be Bama's main challenger for the next few years. Although I have more faith in Coach O to get LSU back to 10 wins seasons than most.
Tamu also has that oilfield money. Their top donors have pockets deeper than the Mariana Trench and are extremely dedicated to the notion that their school has the potential to be a tier 1 SEC program.
Tamu is essentially a Venn Diagram of money, an inferiority complex, and delusion.
Hey, I've got two of those three!
Almost there . . .
You and MSU.
Yeah I don't think Fisher has a team that can compete in the West right now. I do think UGA's schedule has gone from 80% probability of 12-0 down to about 50% probability of 12-0 with UF hiring Mullen and LSU getting Burrow now. Bama and UGA both have easy rows to hoe, but UGA's has gotten a little more difficult.
Hope he goes on to beat up the Buckeyes in the Outback Bowl!
Can you imagine that fan base after being so pathetic in the last part of the last century and now with the somewhat success they've had a taste of again like in the Woody days? Nowhere near the Woody days but man are they going to implode right on Urban if he's still around. Or whoever the coaching staff is. You think that guy is lunatic nutjob now? You might be looking at Brian Kelley 2.0. Urbz for some reason doesn't have the blood rushing to his face though.
I have a plan when these days come. I'm going to pay four or five big dudes(black and white) to come to the shoe and we are going to do and say whatever we want while the asskicking commences on the field. The black guys will be thugs I see at the YMCA lifting weights all the time with arms as big as my torso and the white guys will be brick shitshouse construction snoose chewing skinhead bikers who take no shit from anyone. We won't be the idiots screaming on live television but I assure all you of you flower loving candycanes we will be letting everyone know in 200 foot radius in that stadium just exactly what is occurring all fucking afternoon long. How glorius it will be. I guarantee I at least leave that town with a black eye.
can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning, eh tex?
Really weird post - are there tough guys in Fargo? Why do you think OSU will regress (while I sure as hell hope they do) in the foreseeable future?
"with the somewhat success"
If that is somewhat success, I don't want to know what success is. Because it certainly hasn't been happening here.
I love that this fantasy implies OSU is going like 9-3 this year. Oh daddy.
right? anyone who expects osu to have a down year has no idea about sports. they will probably be unbeaten, or 1 loss at most, by the time the game rolls around. the game will be the de facto conference title and playoff rep. game.
Hmm... did I need to put the /s at the end?
no, not you man. mine was just more of a general thought. I've heard quite a few people actually believe they will have a down year.
I mean if we had a competent QB then they go 9-3 last year. I obviously don’t expect it to happen, but 9-3 wouldn’t be insane. They go to TCU, go to PSU, go to Purdue, go to MSU, and host us. Now I fully expect them to win at least 3, and probably 4 or all 5 of those games, but it wouldn’t be nuts to see them go 2-3 across those games.
is 49-4 in the Big Ten since his return. 2 of those were by a FG although he's won some close ones as well.
He COULD go 2-3 in those games. But his career is defined by simply winning. Hurt QB? Next man up. 3rd string QB? Win national title. He gets great players, coaches them up, and then relies on those guys to make plays when he gets outcoached (which happens to everyone).
Sure
Very true, he just wins.
I think Urban gets outcoached (meaning out-schemed) moreso than any of the other top coaches, it's just that the level of talent on OSU and his ability to motivate players makes up for it. Which, is just as valid as any other method when it comes to winning.
Ahh LSU. Where a QB’s career goes to die......
At UM.
Or 5 star basketball players at MSU
for some reason i can't load the article, but he is immediately eligible (grad transfer)?
Ensminger did well once promoted to OC. The offense will have a lot more balance now.
Ensminger is not that great of an OC in my opinion and is most definitely a downgrade from Aranda. It's also obvious that he will be shoehorned into Ogeron's conservative philosophy.
His last two OC experiences was interim at LSU after Miles was fired, then immediately demoted to TE coach. Before that he was also the interim OC at Auburn in 2008 after Tuberville got canned in the middle of the season. He was not retained and went on to do some HS football coordinating. Other than that, he hasn't been an OC in a lengthy capacity since the 1990s and is approaching 60 years old. He will not be a revolutionary OC all of the sudden at this point in his career.
