Good. Let's take him back.
Mount St. Mary's hired a private equity CEO to be their president. You'll never guess what happened next.
Good. Let's take him back.
Flip him Brady. I heard a rumor on 247 that he's not very solid to Ohio which can be confirmed by his visits to Michigan and MSU recently. It would be sweet and a gut punch to Meyer if we got him to flip to the good guys.
...Hoke doesn't personally recruit kids. :)
Looks like Urb will have to settle for a set of steak knives
Personally, I hope Urban gets third prize...
on the line which is dotted!
Our staff is amazing and Michigan sells itself!
My fear with Webb is that he is such an early commit, he will develope relationships he will not be willing to break. And once you start recruiting other players, it's hard to backtrack. The longer he is committed to them, the tougher it will be.
Kyle Kalis anyone?
The solace I take in the Webb situation is that Cass Tech players have been so vastly overrated for sometime now that I just assume that he (as well as UM's Cass Tech commits, unfortunately) will never really live up to the recruiting hype.
Not sure why you would take solace in this. Coach Wilcher is a Michigan Man and he's doing a great job with the CT program. He deserves a lot of credit for churning out more and more players that are garnering national attention. It will only benefit Michigan if these guys start to meet or exceed expectations.
Yeah Coach Meyer I want to be a buckeye...by the way I am visiting MSU and UofM the next couple days.
Just seems odd to me, but then again it is recruiting it does not make sense
his commitment was done impulsively. Happens a lot. See: Ward, Denzel. Glad to see Michigan is staying on him. Elite talent or not, can't have Ohio taking our guys.
This situation demonstrates, once again, the idiocy of a "commit" visiting other schools and flirting with other coaching staffs, and hopefully will shut up the lingering malcontents who complain about Hoke's no-visit policy.
Lets beat there ass on the field. The commits will come. With or without Marshall, I am certain Hoke and Co. can put together another great class.
Michigan has limited scholarships save the de spots for McDowell an Hand
Hand is the #1 overall prospect in the country. We would likely accept him as a "best available" even if our DE needs were met. Preventing Urban Meyer from building pipelines into the state of Michigan is a huge priority, and landing Marshall is a major step toward stemming that tide.
Also, while it is technically correct to say that our scholarships are limited (in the sense that, due to NCAA rules, there are a finite number of scholarships we're able to give out), this class is not shaping up to be significantly smaller than a standard class, once you factor in expected attrition.
No I don't believe you settle for less talent just so OSU doesn't get him.
See below. This is moot - he doesn't play the same position.
The whole strong side weak side talk is over rated, When Michigan has all their players I guarantee you the line won't be flip flopping every play.
Strong and weak side ends are very different positions in our defense.
yea right now because the dline has been weak
but I don't think you know what you are talking about. Hoke and Mattison have both mentioned that that the 5-tech and 3-tech can be somewhat interchangeable in our defense. You are the first one I've seen suggest they look at the 5-tech and 7-tech that way. It's pretty obvious they have been recruiting different types of players for those positions.
How is continuing to recruit someone that you've offered "settl[ing] for less talent"? Are you suggesting that Marshall's was somehow not a "commitable offer"? #bucknuts'd
Also, I'll reiterate that we would likely take Hand regardless.
I am not speculating anything, I just don't see him being a elite player. My personal belief.
Good thing you're not our coach, isn't it?
Because being one of the top 250 rated kids in America as a high school senior is not elite. Sorry, but we aren't gonna fill our class with 16-17 of the top 100.
no one in the 250 has ever been a bust? why can't anyone here not have a different opinion without ppl getting butthurt
Marshall is a Weakside DE. Hand is a Strongside DE. McDowell, if he adds a little bit of weight, could be a terror at DT as well. They play different positions - don't worry about it.
Recruiting is so confusing these days.
Meyer probably told him to look around after the Rivals 250 came out.
Commence snake oil. Leave nothing for Ohio.
I still want to look around at other schools, but I was offered an extra $800, two tattoos and an '03 Celica to announce my verbal earlier this week. Not even Ole Miss offered that kinda cash.
But then he compared Ole Miss women to Ohio State women.
If I were a D lineman, Michigan would automatically be in consideration. Obviously I'm biased here, but objectively speaking, is there any better staff in the country for development at this position?
Alabama seems to do okay.
LSU.. Wouldn't it be safe to say LSU has done the best job developing d lineman over the last 5-6 years?
USC has had some gamers, including one they stole from Michigan.
It's the egg...
Glenn Dorsey who is currently a bust. Am I missing someone?
think 5 th overall by chiefs
they have lots of other nfl talent last 5-6 years
couple of natlchamps as well
Alabama has signed 27 D lineman over the past 5 years, and the vast majority of them were 4 stars and above. Of course they're going to have some hits. They've also had quite a few misses.
You are the apparition of a legendary coach at the winningest school in D1; act like it man! Get out there and recruit from the afterlife, Fergodsakes.
How do you think we landed Derrick Green?
Possibility of a commit from him tonight? Seems strange to visit on a Wednesday night if there wasn't something big in the works. I could see it happening since Mone's commitment.
It would be kind of ridiculous for him to commit to OSU and then commit to Michigan two days later.
Ridiculous things happen, but that would be dumb. And I don't think it would mean anything if it happened, because he would obviously immediately be labeled as wishy-washy and a bit of a head case.
Completely agree, but a wishy-washy commitment to us is better than a wishy-washy commitment to Ohio. I doubt he flips tonight though.
I love thinking about it. It's happening. Lets go!
Ridiculous things do happen, like say, getting an Auburn tatoo and then signing with Alabama?
cat is out of the bag on that one
Come to the good guys. Own Ohio State's offensive line, because you sure aren't going to want to go up against ours in a couple years.
Sam Webb was actually the first to hint at Marshall taking visits, but I'm not sure if he anticipated Marshall visiting this early after his commitment.
I doubt Hoke would let him commit this early. Best case is that he backs off his ohio commit this week.
all of them
This just proves Meyer can't recruit.
Oscar Meyer Weiner is a scammer
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL URBAN LIAR OSCAR MYER WEINER LOLOLOL
We're going to take 4 studs at each position on the DL. It will end up being Hand, Mone, McDowell, and Marshall. We have a very real shot at all of the other 3 not already commited.
16 DLs?! Suck on that, Kevin Sumlin!
Going to need some attrition to be able to fit all 16 DL. Luckily I think we'll be able to get up to 18 total openings.
... wait for it ... LEGEND-ARY.
Any three of those would be sweet.
If we end up getting any one of those guys I'll be satisfied. Hand especially.
Marshall and Webb should remain committed to Ohio, then flip to M on national signing day 2014.
Sam Webb hinted at some "interesting developments". Buckle up?
Gut feeling is THE thing.
Didn't he end up (as Sam said) visiting today for 3 hours?
Sam Webb just tweeted that Marshell is decommitted from OSU.
Sam Webb tweeted this a few moments ago...
Lawrence Marshall: "I have decommitted from Ohio State"
— Sam Webb (@SamWebb77) February 14, 2013
He has just been embarrassed and he won't risk that again.
Sam said he just decommited. Lol
Lawrence Marshall: "I have decommitted from Ohio State"
And he has decommited. Long way to go till signing day 2014
per Sam Webb twitter: "Lawrence Marshall: 'I have decommitted from Ohio State'"
apparently he has decomitted from those buckeyes..per sam webb twitter
Decommited per Webb
Speaking of a guy named Webb and decommitting...
Sam Webb says he's decommitted. Don't know how to embed the twitters.
Dude! You should start a blog!
You guys wont believe what Sam Webb just tweeted
You mean people freaked out in February over a recruit for nothing?!?!?! There was front page content about it! It's all meaningless now MEANINGLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wassup Urban. Take that you chinless troll.
for that (all too predictable) bullshit the Izzokidz were spewing out last night.
Brady Hoke got the "Snake Oil".
In the end, we have a very good chance of getting at least ONE of Webb and Marshall to stay near home and play for us... when they are forced to decide, they get homesick... Chalk up Conley to that.
will Brady actually meet with the recruit?
