Orange Bowl open thread
You know, when the game was announced, I was kinda "meh". But now that I'm home and ready to watch it, I'm kinda getting excited. The contrasting styles intrigue me, another Big Ten team, to see how they'll do, and the celebration that is the LAST BCS bowl game on FOX. Yay!
And it can't be worth than last night's game, can it?
If nothing else maybe we'll get more Taco Bell commercials...
(Though Iowa and GT will have a hard time topping TCU's cheer team).

but I agree.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:25 PM ^
And it presumes Stanzi can tell time. Which, uh, not so certain right now.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:22 PM ^
Not all that surprised about the GT defense; UGA and Clemson both ran up and down on them.
On offense, looks like Tech needs to get the ball to the perimeter more quickly. They've run Rocket Toss once, but if they hadn't missed a block by one of the A backs, it would have picked up some big yardage.

no catch and he looks hurt.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:22 PM ^
Aren't you considered to be "on the ground" when you catch the ball when your knee is down?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:22 PM ^
Going out in style...
January 5th, 2010 at 9:25 PM ^
How hard is it to look at the play clock every once in awhile Stanzi?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:24 PM ^
Is Stanzi blind to the color of the play clock?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:27 PM ^
meh.. as I said.. the only way Iowa loses this is if Stanzi blows it.. and so far he's hell bent on giving GT the game..
January 5th, 2010 at 9:26 PM ^
Denise!!!!! We remember you!!!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:26 PM ^
huzzah!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:26 PM ^
BOOM.
Denise'd.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:27 PM ^
And nameless redhead Taco Bell chick...!
January 5th, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
Or both
January 5th, 2010 at 9:29 PM ^
a pitch on the option. Way overdue.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
you can't really pitch when all your OL gets beat.. you'd be pitching into a linebacker or a DLineman
January 5th, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
I feel the momentum shifting. Iowa needs to stop that with a turnover. Or a stop right here.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:31 PM ^
run a dive?
don't like the play call at all.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:31 PM ^
the invisible playclock tonight
January 5th, 2010 at 9:32 PM ^
the priviledge of broadcasting the BCS games?
Between the atrocious announcing and slipshod camera work, I'm about done.
Especially with the lack of cutaway shots that last night provided.
January 5th, 2010 at 10:20 PM ^
Fox generally does a decent job with there NFL broadcasts but this bowl coverage is down right painful. I love watching football but my will is being tested with broadcast.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
If they were smart, Denise would be Bowl game queen. They're missing a marketing opportunity here. Don't they read MGoBoard???
January 5th, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
That FedEx "world's proudest boss" commercial is "The Office" quality funny. Makes me laugh everytime he knocks on the closet to say "good job everybody."
January 5th, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
I think Fox is trying to set a record for the greatest number of commercials in a football game.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
got for the over/under on Denise sightings during the Orange Bowl? 5.5 perhaps...
January 5th, 2010 at 9:35 PM ^
Fox says interceptions don't bother Ricky Stanzi.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
Stanzi's short passes look pretty bad tonight.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:38 PM ^
Anthony Allen is no Adrian Arrington.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:39 PM ^
I bet Nesbitt and I could have a pretty good QB skills competition together.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:39 PM ^
to the short side?
Not going to create much space that way.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:42 PM ^
I remember Bo used to run the option to the short side all the time and it would drive me nuts too, for the same reason. I assume it's because you have an extra guy or two over there?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:40 PM ^
Dwyer is missing on some significant blocks. Tech's gotta get the ball outside.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:41 PM ^
that out of bounds call is in the spirit of the rule.
It is not like he tried to gain an advantage by stepping out and then stepping back in.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:42 PM ^
These replays have been horrible. Nothing gained by showing an angle in which the WR's feet are hidden.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:43 PM ^
I think I just saw John Wienke on the sideline.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:44 PM ^
have a waggle to moeki in his pocket? if so now's the time
January 5th, 2010 at 9:45 PM ^
Because Beyonce always makes me feel fired up and ready to kick some ass.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:48 PM ^
Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I totally agree! Beyonce is amazing get pumped/get ready to go out music. 3
January 5th, 2010 at 9:50 PM ^
Is everyone rooting for Iowa?
January 5th, 2010 at 9:54 PM ^
I'm a hater.
January 5th, 2010 at 10:03 PM ^
A little hate (but how much can you hate Iowa?), a little bet.
January 5th, 2010 at 10:03 PM ^
I would rather Iowa wins but I have Tech in my pickem so I will probably complain both ways

she's actually the chick from sex and the city - kristin davis (not really, but pretty damn close)
- Someone with WAY too much time on their hands
January 5th, 2010 at 9:54 PM ^
If that is all you did with all of your time everyday, I would subsidize you.
January 5th, 2010 at 10:05 PM ^
Still, Kristen was always the best of the Sex in the City women.
Though her mandatory celeb sex pics were NOT flattering.
January 5th, 2010 at 9:52 PM ^
That was a Lesson on how not to scramble
January 5th, 2010 at 9:53 PM ^
Iowas had first shot 42 yards away. Since they didn't make it, GT had one, perhaps two plays at 58 yds away. I think the risk/reward of going for it there was in Iowa's favor.
