OPEN THREAD - Big Basketball Night (Baylor vs WV) (IND vs MSU)

Submitted by buddhafrog on March 2nd, 2021 at 6:26 PM

Huge night of basketball with MICHIGAN vs ILLINOIS with the opportunity to HANG A BANNER tonight.

There are other good games as well, particularly right now:

  • Baylor (3) vs WV (6) - early 5pm start. Currently in 2nd half, WV leading 45-43
  • IND vs MUS - Huge game for both programs. These two teams are fighting for the potential last B1G team to make the tourney. The winner of this game has an advantage, and the loser is likely out. I care. I love opportunities to watch MSU crumble.

I'm surprised how good WV looks. First time I've seen them for a full game. They're legit.

Baylor also looks good. I'd LOVE to see UM vs Gonzaga because I think it'd be a great game. But they honestly don't scare me too much. But Baylor's athleticism could be a game changer. I think UM is the best in the country, but Baylor is the team that would scare me the most.

This game has 0 chance to be done by 7P. I hope we get shifted to ESPNews (does that even still exist?) or something similar for the first ~10 mins or so

ED: so tipoff is not until 7:10 -- just need to avoid OT!

I hope WVU wins but I'd rather Baylor win than overtime.

Of course I'm rooting for StAEE to lose and for Archie Miller to keep his job.

This game feels a little like the UM vs OSU game last week. Two quality teams, playing hard, playing with confidence, playing with skill and effort.

Tied at 79 with one minute to go.

No ties.

Hunter sitting out the rest of the half is probably a good thing. He was waaaay too amped up for this one. Just needs to catch his breath and calm his nerves.

MSU is probably just one win against Michigan away from punching their ticket to the tournament. I hope the team is ready for the hardest fought games that they'll play all year. They can't come out flat on Thursday like they did tonight and hope they'll get a different outcome.

Purdue just finished off Wisconsin 73-69.

If it wasn't so certain that Coach Howard deserves BIG Coach of the Year, I would have to say Matt Painter deserves consideration.

Not exactly sure on these numbers, but I think the Boilers have (quietly) won something like 10 of their last 13.
