Only Bad News

Seems like nothing but bad news coming out of our football program. High-profile transfers including one to OSU / Multiple high-profile recruit decommits / 1st-year DC involuntarilly terminated / 3-9 & no bowl / etc etc. Something in the water guys? Or do I continue to "believe"?

RichRod is a current whipping boy for not only the local (see Detroit newspaper columnists) but also the national media (see SI and others). Combine that with a 3-9 season and opposing coaches snake oil and you have a recipe for decommitments. Coach Rod has a proven track record of winning. Once we go 7-5 next year, the positives will start to flow, the "he's proving he can turn it around" quotes will begin, and 18 year olds will once again want to be Blue. Someone else will be in the media's negative crosshairs soon enough, and RichRod will be left alone to build his Ninja Football Machine! Now, you can waiver like these 18 year old kids, or you can show your maturity level and be patient, watch it grow, and support those who are here! If you don't believe 100%, yes 100%, then get the fuck out, and do your posting on the Free Press threads!

Look, for as long as I've been living I haven't known Michigan to have anything but success. They have been the most consistent program for the past 30 plus years. I'm not worried about a couple of kids in a class that decided that they didn't decide for Michigan...Just give us the kids that want to be here, let them lace em up line up between the hashes and have at it! In the end, we'll be fine...we'll be dominant...we'll be Michigan...I'm not worried...It's hard for us because this is the first real transition that alot of us have had to see...Just chill out...take a breath...and here comes the plunge....

Sometimes it almost feels like this whole mess is just a conspiracy to weed out the fan base. The bottom line is, we've all been SO lucky with all the success we've had in recent years, and now we feel entitled to it. When we get the glory of Michigan back (and yes, of course it will be back) it's gonna feel a whole lot different. Better. Sweeter. Greater. Because we'll have earned it. If there's one thing I have come to respect from all the diehard Nittany Lion fans around me this year, it's that they truly appreciate the season they've had... it's clearly not a given that they'll contend for the conference title or anything more, so it means something when they do. Just a thought. And besides, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm kinda relieved I don't have to live through four years of Shav'd Beaver jokes from those same Nit fans. I mean really, couldn't the lady just call him Bob or something?

There's plenty of positives in the recruit class for UM. Two top 8 DE, 12 fours stars overall peer rivals (some in positions of need, overall top ten recruiting class), plus in my opinion the biggest news in terms of personnel- Graham coming back. Plus Fitz Toussant is underrated, Lewan is a huge pickup, I could go on. I'm excited about seeing Forcier play, but hope Dual Threet continues his development and leads Blue on opening day. You gotta appreciate his toughness considering the criticism he took last season. Overall, lots to look forward to.

Don't forget that one year ago, people were saying the exact same things about our basketball program. A verbal commitment (Alex Legion) decommitted, some recruiting targets went elsewhere, a couple guys transferred, and we suffered the most losses in school history (22). People were lamenting the firing of Amaker! It just goes to show that just as things can get bad, they can improve in a hurry, too.

If you go to M den website, www.mden.com , and look under the novelty section, then banners you can see and actually buy it. Looks pretty cool. Don't own it. I saw a banner with the fight song that I'll probably get. I didn't see that one on the web site though.

These things arent all that uncommon, we're just more exposed to them now. With blog pages and inside info, of which I am eternally greatful, we get to see more of the chess match called: recruiting. This has been going on since "The Bear" stopped getting all the recruits back in the early 80's. It will all be ok, have faith and trust that although there are a lot of people on here that have more knowledge of the game than I have ever seen collected in one place, the coaches have it under control and will do what's best for the University, the team and the wolverine nation.
