I'd love to have him, but it wouldn't be a huge loss if he commits elsewhere. There's a lot of future maulers on our roster right now, and the depth going forward looks like its where it needs to be.

i don't disagree with you, but we are starting to wade into "11 warriors" territory (i.e., when we realize that we aren't going to get someone we want, we may start rationalizing that we don't need him anyways or that he's not that great).  while we have a lot of depth, it's a huge loss in that it's a big gain for ohio state. for that reason alone i want him badly. also, we need tackles. differing reports on whether this kid is a tackle or not but, if he is, me want.

Not the same at all. Their rationalization is "O well, urbz cooled on that top 5 player." The previous poster is saying while he doesn't like our chances with Jones, it's not really the end of the world for UM. We have depth and talent at the OL positions and while he is a good player, he is not near the talent level of a Peppers/Hand.

...Would be AWESOME if he came to Michigan, but I'm not liking our chances at the moment. That said, I didn't like our chances with Winovich 3-4 weeks ago either and we closed in a hurry, maybe we can do the same.

Our best shots appear to be with Jamarco Jones, Roderick Johnson, and Casey Tucker. Were playing from behind on all three, it would seem.  All other offered offensive linemen have either eliminated Michigan or we were never in the running, anyway.

Michigan has not offered Andrew Mike, but they have bumped up interest recently, perhaps because the coaches realize options are getting limited.

Says buckeye. Not hopeful, but would be an amazing pull, especially to witness the 11w meltdown. Of course, he may not "fit their program" like peppers, hand, and any other top recruit urban Meyer passes on.

Jones would be a dominant OG, especially in a system that is primarily a man blocking scheme. I think he would be incorrectly utilized (though still a very good player) in a predominately zone scheme. He could only make a pretty good OT, though I think if he does move to tackle it would have to be RT, but he doesn't really have the lateral movement, length, or foot speed to maximize his upside.

My whole assessment is on my blog, but that's the basic jist.

I just started it very recently, I'm working my way through quite a few players. My hope is not to simply do recruiting things, either, I want to actually get into more football specifics. I'm also still working on multiple things for maize n brew, so I'm keeping pretty busy working on everything.

To people wondering what the news is, I think it's that he established he will be announcing a 1:00.

OSU better hope they land this kid. If I was a buckeye fan and OSU missed out on Jones here, I'd start worrying about what the next recruiting class was going to look like.

Say in a perfect world, UM gets Hand and McDowell, there is no way OSU fans can be confident in saying Meyer outrecruited Hoke this year. I've been amazed at the talent that UM's coaching staff has been able to reel in thus far.
