Ohio State once again wearing alternate uniforms for The Game
November 12th, 2017 at 1:15 PM ^
Who cares. I hope we beat their ass. I do think if Gary and Higdon are healthy we win. Their love affair with lebron makes me want to beat them even more. Dude is a pos.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:18 PM ^
You need a vertical passing game to beat OSU. We don't have that. We need a LB to line up against Dobbs, McCray is a liability.
I don't think the OSU game will be pretty.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:21 PM ^
You need a pair of balls to have confidence in your team. U think Harbs doesnt know
WHat we need
To do. Maybe ur an osu fan
November 12th, 2017 at 1:21 PM ^
This is why you are in Bolivia.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:25 PM ^
Lol. Why cause u dont have any balls? Or cause u r an osu fan?
November 12th, 2017 at 1:30 PM ^
You know, being optimistic or pessimistic about a game as a fan really has nothing to do with how many ballz you have.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:45 PM ^
One of the bright dividing lines between MGoBlog and places like MLive is the extent of the belief in the Unified Testicular Fandom Theory. There've always been a few who worship at the Altar of the Mighty Testicle at MGoBlog, but it's a small minority. That's largely due to the fact that the most vocal adherents of that religion are morons who can't keep from eventually getting banned.
November 12th, 2017 at 5:44 PM ^
If you read Inman's rants as satire it's actually pretty funny! Unfortunately, I don't think it was meant as satire.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:29 PM ^
Says the guy in Costa Rica!
November 12th, 2017 at 1:32 PM ^
He's not in La Paz yet—if he was, he wouldn't be here.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:44 PM ^
If you don't always think the team is going to win, your're not a real fan. Then the guy with this hot take (you) is the first one to have a meltdown when we don't win
November 12th, 2017 at 1:53 PM ^
Yeah, there have been lots of games where I rationally did not think we would win . . . and then we did!
That's one of the coolest experiences of being a fan.
Seeing your team overcome real odds to pull out a big win.
November 12th, 2017 at 2:38 PM ^
It's hedging in the worst way, "Man we suck, fuck Harbaugh...we're never going to win. Oh wait, we won!?!? I love this team."
November 12th, 2017 at 3:30 PM ^
You absolutely think we are going to win every game?
Not just rooting for us to win, but absolutely, totally believe we are going to win every game?
I hope for your own sake it's not true.
If it is true, Vegas builds places like this because of you.
November 12th, 2017 at 2:06 PM ^
going to win is different than wanting to win. I think you can be a real fan, want your team to win, but still have realistic expectations. Not speaking to the rest of this season, just in general.
November 12th, 2017 at 3:57 PM ^
My least favorite fans are the ones who talk shit about the people who have confidence enough to think we will win. I do not care if that fan blows up; I hate the arrogant pessimists who have very little confidence in our team, then are happy to say they said so if we do lose big. The fans who think we will get whipped are the worst kind of fan. You show no faith in Harbaugh, no faith in the players, and you are as weak as testicles that have already been kicked.
We are playing at home and are a much better team than Iowa. If more Michigan fans were not whiny at tough times we may actually have a loud stadium and a homefield advantage. The quiet and lack of resolve of the fan base has always been one of the weak spots of UM.
November 12th, 2017 at 4:08 PM ^
I hate the opposite. fans that irrationally think we will go undefeated every year and melt down any time any play goes bad. the kind of people who were wanting to fire Beilein last year or wanting to fire Drvno/Pep/Jay Harbaugh this year.
November 16th, 2017 at 5:43 PM ^
People hate the truth. I’m pretty sure Harbaugh would rather have fans who believe he can win ray hare than equate each loss with a doomsday. Furthermore, nobody likes people who easily switch to extreme perspectives. But the worst fans are the mental wimps who don’t even want to imagine e their team’s young men can win. The negs are from hitting the nerves of people who cannot handle criticism, oh well. Did you guys ever play the game? Why do you watch Michigan if you think we will lose? Ah, the defense mechanism of feeling better about oneself by lowering expectations.
November 16th, 2017 at 5:45 PM ^
My team won a state championship against a big city school that was supposed to dominate us, despite our being undefeated. I cringe at people with no belief, who must be so privileged to think wins are easy no matter how good a team one is on.
November 12th, 2017 at 9:01 PM ^
that complain before games and after losses, but probably blend in after wins.
Like Harbaugh, I hope we get better every day. Sure, i'm optimistic. And enthusiastic. And I'm not so mentally fragile that I need to protect myself against disappointment.
The tone of fan comments at Michigan blogs has gotten better over the past couple of weeks, but it was near unbearable for a whiile.
November 12th, 2017 at 2:11 PM ^
You know, these are the sorts of things that got you in trouble in the first place. The criticisms and the worries are valid - a vertical passing game and someone a smidgen faster than McCray would be huge against Ohio State - and yet the reply from you is this blind optimism coupled with accusations that perhaps the other person is either a lesser fan or a fan of another team.
Please quit that.
November 12th, 2017 at 2:32 PM ^
Its a joke. The amount of things said to me is way worse but i dont get mad... its a blog. And yes i agree those are legitimate concerns but i choose to think Harbs gets it figured out, so i dont fret. Not blind optimism at all and come on now about the accusations of being a fan of another team, this is said all the time.
November 12th, 2017 at 3:30 PM ^
You are so over the line. You are one of the most annoying posters ever.
November 12th, 2017 at 6:51 PM ^
You are absolutely right Googles! "Annoying posters ever" probably an understatement though. Totally insufferable moron!
November 12th, 2017 at 2:42 PM ^
You know he can't, and won't.
And his ridiculously disingenuous I'm-really-the-victim-here-besides-everybody-does-it whining response to you proves it.
November 12th, 2017 at 2:45 PM ^
there are a lot more reasons to be optimistic instead of pessimistic about Michigan Football. The 2nd half game thread yesterday was flat out ridiculous.
November 12th, 2017 at 6:59 PM ^
Hard to have confidence in this game when we're 1-15 or so in the last 16. And that one win was barely a win against an interim coach. My prediction will automatically always be o$u until I see a win.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:25 PM ^
I agree. I plan on watching an hour of baby seals being clubbed before I turn on "The Game". That way it will make it much more palatable.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:28 PM ^
We didn’t have much of a vertical passing attack against them last year and we still managed to drive the ball down the field. If our offense doesn’t turn the ball over it’ll be closer than you think. They’ve shown ineptitude at times this season as well. I’m not going to insinuate anything cause I’ve learned not to get my hopes up regarding this game but I think this team has the ability to pull off something special for once.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:30 PM ^
Our passing game is anemic in comparison to last year. We cannot utilize any of our WR's. Our OL still struggles with Pass Blocking. How do you think Peters will have time to go through his progressions with Hubbard and Bosa penetrating our pass blocking? Maybe our defense can hold OSU in check, but I think the combination of Dobbs and Weber could be quite dangerous. We need to trust our LB's to tackle in space, and I am not too confident about that.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:35 PM ^
We might have a better chance with one of those two on the RBs. Both have speed and the ability to tackle in space.
November 13th, 2017 at 8:35 AM ^
We can use McCray, but you need to get to Barrett QUICKLY. I don't see a lot of LB blitzing in The Game just because Barrett will kill us with his legs if we miss him. Brown had the OSU offense figured out last year. We need to get pressure with our front 3-4. Taco had a hell of a game last year. Don't forget that the M D gave up virtually NOTHING last year before OT. The OSU points were all Speight gifts.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:39 PM ^
If Peters drops back 36 times they'll have to surgically reattach his legs if not his head.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:44 PM ^
We hit more quick slants, screens, and short routes we can take advantage of their secondary when they’ll start to cheat up.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:59 PM ^
However, Darboh and Chesson had the ability to get separation; none of our current WRs with the occasional exception of Perry have shown that.
Peters has a good arm, but he hasn't been asked to throw very much so he's still somewhat of an unknown quantity in terms of proving he can make those quick throws on a consistent basis. I don't think he's got a particularly quick release, and our pass blocking has been so bad this season that plenty of times our QBs have had guys in their faces before they've had a chance to even set up.
The key is going to be whether we can move the ball on the ground on 1st and 2nd down just enough so that Peters isn't forced into constant 3rd and long situations where we pretty much have to throw.
November 12th, 2017 at 6:53 PM ^
Maybe SP8 returns for the game
November 13th, 2017 at 8:43 AM ^
Maybe Denard returns for the game
November 12th, 2017 at 1:57 PM ^
Somewhat mitigate the OSU d-line. I have very little confidence that our o-line can slow them down... At all.
November 12th, 2017 at 2:10 PM ^
Iowa feasted on them with TEs. Their linebackers have been iffy in coverage and Michigan's TE will be a miss match.
If we get semi healthy on offense I think they will move the ball.
November 12th, 2017 at 2:38 PM ^
The disparity between Iowa's passing game against OSU vs against Wisconsin is eye-opening.
Against OSU, Stanley was 20/31 for 226 yds and 5 TDs, and got sacked just once, with 3 hurries.
Against Wisconsin, Stanley was 8/24 for 41 yds, 0 TDs, and got sacked 4 times with 4 hurries.
I'm curious if this was due primarily to matchups, or was largely an artifact of Iowa being at home against OSU and being on the road against Wisconsin.
November 13th, 2017 at 8:39 AM ^
Iowa at home is an entirely different beast then them playing on the road. Wisconsin should have been a huge game for them, but Ferentz game-planned like they were playing Purdue. I really don't understand him.
November 12th, 2017 at 5:43 PM ^
I mean.... Iowa kicked their asses. Why not us?
November 12th, 2017 at 11:56 PM ^
Can we play the game in Kinnick?
November 13th, 2017 at 1:37 AM ^
I picked up a few of the tiny rubber bits from the Kinnick field turf after the OSU field rush. I'll be throwing them onto the field at the Big House come November 25.
November 13th, 2017 at 8:26 AM ^
Make sure you get some in Barrett's eyes.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:15 PM ^
I appreciate tradition for The Game for the most part, but alternate unis don't bother me at all.
November 12th, 2017 at 1:50 PM ^
....agreed! People get bothered by the apparel threads, but why do we even care about what the opposition is wearing?
November 12th, 2017 at 1:15 PM ^
Just shows how much better our uniforms are. If your uniforms are weak change them all the time. Personally It's disrespect for the rivalry. Their uniforms last year were horrendous.
