Such a prophetic and accurate assessment of Meyer from Coach Harbaugh in 2015.

Not really worthy of starting another thread, but I thought I’d ask the board when was the last time we saw a head coach in college football suspended for x number of games?

I’m having trouble recalling any in recent memory, which makes me think Urban will either be reinstated and can coach every game or he will be fired.

Agreed, some people keep saying "oh he'll be suspended 3 or 4 games for this, but won't get fired." But I can't remember the last time in any sport or capacity where a coach has gotten suspended for a certain number of games. Players, yes. But coaches either get off free or are fired

Tressel was suspended for two games. Initially.

Bacari Alexander was suspended for seven games by Detroit last season. That was definitely not about an NCAA issue.

Bob Knight was suspended 3 games during his last season at IU for bad behavior, then fired after the next incident.

Bob Huggins was suspended after getting a DUI. He can't have been the only one.

It happens.

Tressel’s punishment was in the context of an NCAA investigation, as part of their appeasement efforts.

Alexander was suspended indefinitely while UD investigated his behavior.  That happens sometimes.  But I do think it’s  uncommon to investigate a coach and then issue down a suspension.  It seems like they end up with him fired or exonerated.

That's correct about Tressel, but the NCAA wasn't involved yet. He was suspended for violating his contract. OSU thought that was an appropriate level of punishment for what he did.

UDM's process was mysterious and never revealed to the public. I'm not convinced it took them that long to investigate. And they announced he was suspended, not put on paid leave like Meyer.

I think suspensions are more common than we're making them out to be. When the NCAA gets involved, we hear about it. Same with a big name coach. When it's an assistant or a mid-major HC or a less popular sport, it goes largely unnoticed.

Bob Davie (New Mexico) was actually suspended for 30 days earlier this calendar year.  But that obviously didn't involve missing any games.

Kyle Flood (Rutgers) got suspended for 3 games back in 2015 for contacting a professor about a player's grade (that whole hilarity of Flood meeting the Professor on the Princeton campus while making sure he wasn't wearing Rutgers gear).

Dave Christensen (Wyoming) I recall got suspended for a game in the early 2010s, after he got into it with Air Force's coach during a post-game.

Those are the only recent cases I can think of, off the top of my head.  But it has happened occasionally.

I didn’t want to create a new thread for this but at 11 warriors, they are claiming mcmurphy is a hack journalist because a reddit posts shows that he’s edited his original reporting regarding the smith incident.

I kind of agree with some points but then he loses me. The poster claims to be a lawyer and states that Courtney smith doesn’t need to press charges for the officers to press charges if they feel there is sufficient evidence. This is where he loses me and shows his Ohio state fandom. There was a post on here yesterday comparing Michigan and OSU regarding player behavior, internal discipline or lack thereof, and law enforcement involvement or lack thereof. I forget the exact numbers but it showed that Local law enforcement in Columbus had some history of failing to properly handle incidents involving OSU players. It would seem to me that a coach getting in trouble for something as serious as domestic violence would be worse for a program than a college kid sexually assaulting a girl. A coach is leading the young men and is held to a higher standard. I’m not excusing the scumbag kids that abuse women, but I don’t think the football players are looked at the same way.

Basically Everyone at 11 warriors is jumping on the report and just using it to defend everything Meyer has done and how OSU has handled it. The allegations are still there, the evidence is still there. Mcmurphy changing “arrest” to “investigation” shouldn’t absolve anyone of anything. Corruption involving local law enforcement is rampant in plenty college towns when it includes prestigious athletic programs.

Don't know if they will fire him but there is an independent board investigating, NOT along the lines of MSU slappies purporting to investigate anything, which provides some protection for OSU if they do can Urban.

What's really entertaining is that instead of everyone kissing his ass the media line is now "Well he's always been a scumbag and his programs were not clean."  Why is it so difficult for people to say that when someone is winning games.
