Officiating sucks

I thought the bowl season was supposed to be a bonus for the best officiating teams. How does the supposedly best refs miss a blatant DPI in the OU-LSU game in the friggin' first quarter?  OU was driving down 14-7, and then forced to punt and quickly went down 21-7 and that was it. I'm sorry, but these refs should be fired and never be allowed to ref again. You can't change the flow of the game that early on that big of a stage and have no consequences. My friend posted on reddit to complain and his post got deleted. This game is so corrupt now, f it. F the whole system. I'm cutting the cord and dropping all sports channels next year.

We do have a real playoff, it consists of four teams. And by far, by leaps and bounds, the best four teams in the country. 6 years now and zero controversy over the four teams involved every year. They've got it right every year, and in so doing preserved the absolutely critical nature of the regular season, the factor that makes college football regular seasons the best, bar none, in sports. You think there are blowouts now? Wait until the terrible day that we have a 12 or 16 team playoff, then you'll see some real blowouts. Along with spoiling the regular season. The fact that the playoff is exclusive is precisely why it's so good--it rewards only excellence, and does not reward teams that lose 2-3 games. That's awesome because only teams with beginning to end excellence get a chance, and that, by itself, is both fair and right.

This is not a real playoff. The point of a college football season is to win a national title. None of the mid-majors have any shot, even if they go undefeated. To me that makes it a farce. Also just out of principle, it’s a farce. All other divisions have a playoff, yet D1 can’t? This so called playoff is ass. The NCAA is a joke for that and so many other reasons.

Good question. A new D-1 would be appropriate, with about 64 teams, and a D-1A with the rest. That would be best actually. And fair to them.

Boise and UCF would get rocked in any playoff. When quality teams like OK and OSU a couple years ago in the current exclusive system get rocked, UCF would lose 62-7 in any year you want to name. You think a single playoff game isn't attractive now? Imagine UCF against anyone! UGH.

In a 16 team playoff, Michigan might have a chance at it. And that would be both futile, because we'd lose, and unfair, because we don't deserve a chance, we weren't good enough this year. Neither were any of the other teams in the NCAA the year except for four.

I'd be for adding two teams to make 6, and would listen to a debate on 8. But anything more than that would be a travesty and actually the opposite of fair. Fair is not a 3 loss team getting hot and beating a superior team who lost none, it's the opposite of that.

Guess what, only 6 teams have won the NC in the past 12 years. So, my friend, that means that comparer to a select group of 4-6 teams who hoard all the 5 star talent, all other teams are basically DII level talent.... that includes Michigan.

in other words, we’ll never sniff the 4 team playoff, but we could have a shot in a 8-12 team playoff.

This is some next level shit. I don't get complaining about the reffing of our games in most cases. I sure as hell don't get it when I don't care who wins.

I actually can't argue with the premise.  OU wasn't winning that game, but the missed DPI was as bad as the one in the NFC title game.  You're welcome, LA.

And now the DPIs by O$U go uncalled.

Nothing is fair. Nothing will ever go your way.  Eat your gruel.  Watch your re-runs.  And like it.

Almost all crews make bad calls from time to time... it’s a part of the game, so might as well accept it and boo their asses out of the stadium the next time they do it to the good guys in the Big House. Also throw towels.

LOL.

Some of you guys are idiots.

If every official were fired that idiot fans call for to be fired, there would be zero employed officials remaining.

There will NEVER be perfect officiating in any sport. There will always be mistakes. You can't just fire everyone who makes any kind of a mistake at work.

Yea but...it's fucking atrocious out there anymore.  These calls effect outcomes of games (not earlier today lulz).  Coaches and players careers are affected by these guys and some missed holding calls along the line are one thing but the horrendous PI calls/misses are detrimental.  They're bad and we need a new crop of people to do it better with all the damn money in this sport.

I have family who was a white hat in the big ten(also did the Auburn vs Oregon championship game) and is now a white hat in the NFL. Also have a buddy who's a white hat in another conference. I can tell you with a 100% confidence that they don't give a fuck who wins.

They are held "accountable". Graded on every call and missed calls. It will effect your bowl game you get which effects your pay. What do you want? The electric chair?
