Official NCAA Stats Confirm First Career Victories for Minter, Hart, Jay Harbaugh, and Moore
During my investigation of the 'All-Time Rushing TD Leaders' thread, I came across a webpage (https://stats.ncaa.org/player/game_by_game?game_sport_year_ctl_id=16460&org_id=418&stats_player_seq=2425089) shedding light on who the NCAA credited wins to for the first three games. You remember those first 3 games when Jim Harbaugh was absent, reportedly due to some cheeseburgers.
This data confirms that the NCAA recognized wins for the interim coaches during the games they coached. Specifically, this includes the UNLV game where Hart and Jay alternated halves and were both credited with the win. According to NCAA rules, the school could have attributed the wins to Jim Harbaugh if they chose to do so. Prior to seeing this page, I was uncertain about the official coach of record for those games.

Jim Harbaugh to the record books:
"Talk to this guy!"

This is so stupid to me, Harbaugh coached all week in practice, he deserves the credit for the wins.

Exactly.. obviously the other coaches just sat at home doing nothing and then showed up on Saturday

Just noticed. Jokes on me.

SDM - Agreed, but it appears to be HIS (no way Ward does this to Jim) choice to credit the others with the wins. If correct, shows again how unselfish he is.

If a guy hands you the keys to his Ferrari and lets you drive it around the block, it doesn’t make you a Ferrari owner.

But if you take the Ferrari to the track and win a race, the driver gets credit for the win, not the owner.

Lucky for them it’s not 1936.

Stand pat, retain your 100% record and never leave. That's my advice.

Good to know but, eh, Michigan gets the wins. I sincerely doubt Harbaugh's staff--HC included--cares beyond that.
October 16th, 2023 at 9:25 PM ^
But, but…Don’t we hate the NCAA? Cheeseburger police and whatnot? I’m so confused…

Stranger things have happened. Broken watches are right twice a day.
October 16th, 2023 at 9:42 PM ^
It's not like they did us some great deed here. They attributed wins to coaches.
October 16th, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
Yes, this totally makes up for accusing our head coach of major violations over a cheeseburger and claiming that a 4-game suspension was too short. The MGoStore will soon be selling "I heart NCAA" t-shirts.

I'd like to pre-order that t-shirt.
If you attach Warde Manuel's face, I'll pay DOUBLE!

NCAA can go fuck themselves. See we still hate them.
October 16th, 2023 at 10:15 PM ^
So cool.
So Michigan now has 3 coaches with perfect records.

I get the sense that if anyone at the NCAA D-1 "Council" is still around when Harbs stops being Michigan HC like 35 years from now - they are going to vacate every M win.
We'll get knocked from around 1,500 W's back to the 915 we had when he showed up.

i like the cut of your jib
October 17th, 2023 at 12:23 AM ^
He'd have to coach until he's 100 and win every game.
I'm super ok with that.
The NCAA won't exist anymore, but if it tried to vacate THAT guy's wins, it'd be the moment that it did die.
October 17th, 2023 at 2:51 PM ^
That’s the reasonable expectation for harbaugh

NCAA stats confirm their pettiness.

The first of many wins for these coaches - but, by no means am I suggesting they should look for another pasture anytime soon…. Go Blue!
