Note to the guys on the team

Submitted by MichIOE01 on
I'd like to take a moment to say to any member of the U of M football team that might read this: Thanks for your efforts this year. If you're a senior, I'm sorry you had to go out this way. But you can hopefully look back and say that you were part of the rebirth of Michigan Football. Good luck wherever you go. For those that are not seniors but are leaving, too bad you don't think you fit in (except BG if he goes pro). We'll get along without you. Good luck wherever you end up. For those who are staying, you WILL be champions. You will be remembered for for the metamorphosis you have helped this program through. We all can't wait to see what you do next year and beyond. I'd also like to ask everyone else to post their messages to the players. Hopefully some of them will read this. If any of you actually know some of the players (which I know some of you claim to), maybe you can let them know about this thread so they can know that the fans are behind them. And the fans that are behind them are the best fans in all of football.

We will continue to cheer and support, but 3-9 is not a true Michigan football season. I hope that you are all as disappointed as I was. These seasons make us stronger as people. Having never seen a losing season before, I don't like it. We will be back on top. You will get us there. Go Blue.

"not a true Michigan football season" Do you realize what you sound like? Failure, that's what. "These seasons make us stronger as people" All we do is watch a game, it should have no real consequence on how you grow as a human. Fail again. "Having never seen a losing season before, I don't like it." I'm sure that the team will be notified. I bet they will be stunned to find out that no one likes it. Even they don't like. Basically, your whole comment was a waste of internet space.

No one understands the meaning of the word "unacceptable." 3-9 happened. It's over. The deck was stacked against a very young football team and they lost 9 games. Accept it. Learn from it. GO BLUE.

We never can know why someone chooses to leave the program. Attrition due to a new coaching staff, changes at home, following a girl friend across the country, who knows? We don't have to take it personally, wish them the best and move on.

If you are/were a player we love you. Period, no conditions. We are fans the program. The players, more than anyone else, are the program. As fans, we yell, scream, blog and paint our faces. We buy jerseys and have lucky hats and pre-game rituals. We fans simply can't be taken too seriously. If a player reads this, you have done something most fans have never done - put on a real Michigan uniform and run out of the tunnel. Regardless of how much you played or if you are staying, you did that. I am in awe. We fans don't think any less of you, as a player and man, because of the wins and losses. You are still a Michigan Man. Period. If a player reads this, thanks and good luck to you. If you are staying, I'll see you next year. I'll be the one screaming in section 9 with the jersey and lucky hat. (I'm getting too old to paint my face.)

Fair weather fans suck.....I still love my Wolverines. I have no doubt the program is headed in the right direction and can't wait to see UofM hoist the Nat'l Championship trophy again.

had to go through a season like that. it's made me realize my passion for Michigan Football goes deeper than i ever thought before. I second this. @TheMichiganDiff--what's also unacceptable is fans who demonstrate a self-ritgeous attitude where things are simply given to us. Not a true Michigan season? Do you realize how many other programs just as elite as Michigan have had the same type of things happen?

The players that battled and worked and bled and ran and ran some more and studied and dealt with all kinds of fairweather hangers-on flinging blathering idiocy their way this year have my complete respect and admiration. One difference between Michigan and so, so, so many other powerful, tradition laden programs that have gone into extended slumps is the support at Michigan. The positive support. The internal, michigan football player fraternity and network. The strength of bonds between men. The mental toughness, the physical toughness, the tenacity, the determination it takes to be great is passed down from class to class, leader to leader, captain to captian. What every player on that team learned this year was who the quitters were. Who the complainers were. Who was willing to suck it up day after day and give it their best shot. Suck it up and go hit somebody again and again. Take the pounding and go out there over and over trying to get it right. Do what was best for the team. Make no mistake - The Michigan Wolverines will get it right. Underclassmen, listen to your seniors and coaches. Listen to those grisly old limping guys that wander around, tying to bend your ear about the old days and about the toughness and the meanness it took to win. Players on the 2008 Michigan Football team: I, as a fan, have faith in you, and respect you and thank you for the hard work. Keep your head held high and your chest out and wear that maize and blue! Be Proud of your effort and hard work. You earned it. Now go earn it some more this offseason because Michigan will be back!

No we DON'T like this season. We are not Michigan STATE and when things go right we expect it. This is an unusual season as we were poor as a team and showed no particular improvement. That is a USUAL MSU year. They have a successful year but must wonder if they can do this again anytime soon.We have a bad season but we EXPECT we will not do this for another 40+ years.
