Nico Unfinished Business Tweet Redo?

What are people’s predictions on what we’ll see tomorrow before the drop/add deadline? I’m hoping for something similar to what he wrote in January: https://mobile.twitter.com/lbg_nico7/status/1213945168581316608

His silence gives me optimism. I’m guessing he wants to return, but received money from Rosenhaus and is waiting to hear if he’d be eligible given the unprecedented circumstances of this season.

Lions lose by double digits.

Oh yeah and no way Rosenhaus lets him opt back in. Sorry to break the bad news but it is what it is.

I mean it’s not like they opted out before the news dropped. Ambry and Nico both decided to end their season right away as the season was back on. I don’t understand why they’d make that decision so quick, accept money from agents and then think they can come back? I don’t see how the ncaa or the agents would allow that considering they knew the season was back on when they made that decision. I hope I’m wrong tho

While I am no Mel Kiper (wish I had his hair), but are these 2 so sure that they are 1st round locks?  If not, they could be doing themselves a disservice by not coming back and improving their draft stock.  There are a whole bunch of SEC, ACC, Big 12, and now B1G players who will be playing this season and could zoom past them up the draft boards pushing them down.  Good thing Mayfield made the right choice!

Agents do not give money to players they sign. They pay for benefits like coaches and trainers to help them improve for the combine which hopefully improves their draft stock and gets both players and agent money.
mow both Ambry and Nico would improve their stock the most by playing this season and having a very good season. But not sure what kind of advice they are getting. My guess is if they really want back in they could come back

I don't think Nico is coming back. Maybe a 25% or so chance on Ambry, based on nothing but my guessing. I also don't think it'll really matter. Which is probably not a common take, but ...

Either Milton is the next Cam Newton and we can actually compete, or he's not and it's more of the same. I don't think putting this year's version of Ambry and Nico on any of the past Harbaugh rosters turns us into a playoff team or tilts the OSU game in our favor. It's all about the QB, and having a legitimate offensive system. Even Bama and Clemson's defenses get shredded in big games.

I don't disagree, I also think it's crazy for him to leave when he could be a first or second round pick with a great year.

He'll test well enough to get drafted, but the payout of going in the 5th or 6th round versus the 2nd round isn't even close. Life changing difference.

Ask DPJ (6th round). And he had more tape and was always going to test well at the combine, like Thomas.

At first I thought Ambry would sit this year and play next year, but it sounds like he's just going to train and go pro.

I wish him well.

FWIW

DPJs contract is 4 year, $3,481,608 contract with the Cleveland Browns, including a $186,608 signing bonus, $186,608 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $870,402.

Trevon Diggs, a somewhat comparable CB was drafted in the 2nd round (pick 51). Trevon Diggs signed a 4 year, $6,320,907 contract with the Dallas Cowboys, including a $2,157,024 signing bonus, $3,054,338 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $1,580,227.

His signing bonus alone is almost $2M more than DPJ and his guaranteed money is 400K short of DPJs entire contract!

I don't know who is advising him, but that right there is all I need to know.

Did you know that for the drafts between '15 and '19 only 30% of composite 5* WRs EVEN GOT DRAFTED!

And even though the '20 class was an anomaly with 3/4 5*WRs drafted, the fourth was a complete bust along with 3 others in the top 50.

DPJ was not a bust, disappointment or a cautionary tale for other five stars, he was actually a success.

And if we can finally get a QB that can throw it to them..

He should get to come back! If he plays well his draft stock will rise and he's the type of player who will play much better with Joe tossing him those long balls.

No he’s not.  The way the game is played now there’s just a ton of wr’s with impressive tape.  I think Nico really needed that breakout statistical season to get into that 3rd rd range.  With a great season he may have potentially been in the Tee Higgins range. Right now I look at a guy like Chase Claypool with better tape and I’d assume better test numbers.  I think he goes in the 4-5 rd range with the potential to get bumped if it looks like a lesser wr class

Did he make if official or did someone just write an article saying he signed with an agent? Nico hasn’t spoken or written a word about this to my knowledge. I think he’s coming back for this reason alone. If he was gone, he would have tweeted a thank you message to the University, fans, coaches, teammates, etc..

I hear from knowledgeable sources that he definitely will and/or will not be back.

The "knowledgeable sources" of course being the MGoBlog Message Board.
