Maybe I'm wrong but I've been under the impression this was the case for the last week or more.  This is not news to me.  I guess the fact that it's coming from a journalist with a decent reputation for reporting the truth is good.

Harbaugh will go back to the NFL eventually and he's obviously testing the waters right now but its pretty clear at this point its going to take a very very tantalizing job opening with a hefty contract to sway him away from M right now.  Are Derek Carr and the Raiders roster a tantalizing job opportunity?  I'd say it's better than most but is it good enough for Harbaugh to leave his home?  Not sure.

Is the Raiders roster that much better than any other NFL roster?  Admittedly I do not know much about the NFL but it seems like every team has playmakers at every position and margins between first and last are razor thin.  The NFL is parity defined, one year you are conference champs and the next year you are sweating it to make the playoffs.  Rosters are fluid, every coach is ultra smart, advantages are few and far between.  The lack of parity in college football is actually one of the reasons I like college football, because my team is typically on the better end of it.  Granted, I don't like how the SEC has overtaken college football but part of the intrigue of CFB is watching the tide hopefully change (no pun intended).

“Rosters are fluid, every coach is ultra smart,“ - Joe Judge would like a word with you. Giants, Jets and Jax have teams that with very little players.

Raiders are presumed favorites as JH could get full control. Whether that has been discussed or not is another story. I think JH wants to try for the SB again but now maybe torn to stay at UM. A decent amount of openings plus Harbaugh’s name is hot. If he’s going to leave, I’m not sure there’s a much better time than now.

Take it for what it is worth, but it was being reported last night during the Rams v Cardinals game the Raiders are reaching out to the Patriots to interview their Director of player personnel for the GM position and on of the Coordinators (the defensive coordinator I believe) for their open positions.  More importantly, no word on Harbaugh.  This is where silence is beautiful.

It's not that the Raiders roster is better than most other rosters in the NFL.  It's that they have a pretty good starting QB already in place and they just made the playoffs.  They're in a much better spot than any other team with a head coaching vacancy.  Maybe one of the best rosters with a head coaching vacancy in a long time.

They still need some pieces though.  That wide receiver corps outside of Renfrow is a mess and they could use some help in the back end of the defense.  Overall not a bad roster to work with if you're a head coach.

Well Harbaugh is a competitive SOB and I am sure it grinds his gears to see Tucker and Frames Janklin making so much more than him**.  In this case the money is as much a sign of respect as it is a payday.

** Before I get quoted on tRCMB - Tucker may well prove he deserves that $$ going forward, but doesn't have the pedigree to justify it yet.  Franklin is just plain overpaid based on what he has done at PSU.

We're confused about his apprehension because, especially with fortunate recent events, the decision is quite clear. I watch the NFL, if you're looking for more than a major work in progress project, Vegas isn't for you. But, at the same time, that means Michigan must have put together one hell of an offer, in much less time than I thought they would. Let's face it, this a complicated deal. This would take professional teams weeks to deal with.

The rules of the game are being changed, right now, the president is gone, we just beat our hated rival for the first time in i'll be honest i stopped counting, and we made the playoffs for the first time and got clubbed. Which feels way worse than it is, Georgia really was that good. Historically good. But the SEC chants that are being echoed are meant to distract us from committing to beating them.

No. Harbaugh is not worried about competing at the highest level at Michigan. To imply as much is absurd. He is not going to leave M for any college anywhere. It is simply a matter of him enjoying the thrill of victory in the NFL as opposed to the thrill of victory at Michigan. He clearly loves both.

Nick is also a very negative-nancy. I remember in the 2015 season Harbaugh would be peppy and smiley answering press questions, and when Nick's turn would come up Harbaugh would become a lot more grimace-ey.

I told myself "Harbaugh can sense that guys pessimism and hates it lol", but also not lol, sounds crazy I guess, but I do believe it to be true.

Bunghole is a fucking msu hack.

He seriously had an article saying mel tucker has the cheat code to winning these games days before he lost by 50 to ohio state.

Can we please get a Michigan grad to cover our team.

Also, since it’s nebulous figurative language that is just saying Mel has had improbably great success this season, do we really need to scrutinize Mel’s whole career to determine if “cheat codes” is appropriately used to describe his 2021 success, and reign in Nick Baumgardner here? He didn’t claim Mel the best coach of all-time or unbeatable. Even in light of the OSU game, which as you pointed out happened after Nick’s comment, it’d take a some tricky mental gymnastics not to see Mel and his team’s success. Nick is acknowledging just that.

If you mean “cheat code” as in the normal rules do not apply (*cough* strip sack TD *cough*) then he does seem to have that.  If you mean that his coaching caused the Nebraska punter to eschew his entire coverage team, or that his coaching caused his bowl opponent to play the whole game with their 3rd stringer, then I’m dubious.

Good coach got insanely lucky this year and is now vastly overpaid.  Let’s see how he handles the expectations.
