NFL Saturday Open Thread
1st Game: Ravens @ Patriots
2nd Game: Panthers @ Seahawks
Who ya got?
Patriots and Seahawks here.
I think Brady is the only Michigan alum playing today...Avant was released by the Panthers earlier in the season. Ravens have the Harbaugh link tho.
Edit: Just recognized that Alan Branch is another Michigan alum playing on the Dline for the Pats. FItz Toussaint is also on the Ravens.

I'd neg ya; but...

I feel confident about the Patriots this year in the playoffs. Cool Tom will win his 4th ring.

Montana went 4 for 4... so... he'll always be in that conversation for #1
I think ppl universally agrees that Bradshaw was more like Trent Dilfer with a Steel Curtain defense.

and making 2 more Super Bowl trips, plus not having Jerry Rice, John Taylor, etc. gives the nod to Brady,
January 10th, 2015 at 8:49 PM ^
Montana won 2 titles before the 49ers ever found out about Jerry Rice. And never threw a pick in a Super Bowl, either.

Hey, when do the Lions play???

Just for fun, on the ESPN website they have a 3:00 minute clip with Chris Berman and Tom Brady. The former Michigan QB was asked if he would want to coach Michigan in some capacity in about 7-8 years when his playing years are over...
One of the best QB's to ever play in the NFL leading our team? Sure. I'll take him.

for Tom in this one. If he wins the ring this year, he will be considered the best EVA by many.
Then, in the previous post, come back home to become the OC/QB Coach. WOW.

I can't see a guy with enough money to live like a king the rest of his life would want to work 100-hour weeks. I do think he's a natural for TV and some unofficial "consulting' on trips to Ann Arbor, though.
January 10th, 2015 at 5:21 PM ^
coming to campus each fall to work with the QBs during camp...but I do not think he would be able to commit to being a head coach.
January 10th, 2015 at 5:45 PM ^
Don't get me wrong, I love Ann Arbor, but I can't imagine the "we're moving to Ann Arbor" conversation going over very well with Gisele, in addition to not working hundred hour weeks and stressing all the time.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOO conflicted in who to root for. I like BOTH Patriots and Ravens. Paatriots because of Tom Brady, Ravens because of John Harbugh
January 10th, 2015 at 4:48 PM ^
Starting Michigan QB vs. guy who has never worked at Michigan. That's a no-brainer.

because his dad coached here, and he too played around here as a kid (though reputedly not as naughty as little bro), and he believed in Fitz enough to promote him from the practice squad.
But we still have permission not to root for him against Our Tom.

That wasn't a catch.
January 10th, 2015 at 4:48 PM ^
Wow Dick LeBeau just resigned as DC from the Steelers.
January 10th, 2015 at 4:50 PM ^
Likely on his way to Arizona.

Has anyone seen a Double Harbaugh sighting in Foxboro? If not John and Jim, definitely John and Jay, Jim's son.
January 10th, 2015 at 4:52 PM ^
Part of me says I hope not because Jim should be recruiting, but I'm sure he is taking the night off from his job to watch his brother, which is perfectly OK, especially considering that just about every recruit is likely watching these NFL games, so they probably don't want to be bothered.
January 10th, 2015 at 8:52 PM ^
I'd say that at this point, Jim Harbaugh can probably manage his time properly so that he is free to watch a game on a weekend.
January 11th, 2015 at 12:16 AM ^
He can't visit anybody, so I don't see how being at the game would hurt that much.
Heck, John was there for Jim's announcement as Michigan Head Coach just before a playoff game.
January 10th, 2015 at 4:51 PM ^
The NFL really should use the college replay system. That's a pretty obvious incompletion that Harbaugh should not have had to use a challenge for that.
January 10th, 2015 at 4:52 PM ^
