New QB Offer
According to Scout and Rivals we have offered Texas QB/ATH Jalen Overstreet (6'3 205).

Looks like a kid who could start out at QB and move positions if QB doesn't work out, which would fit perfect considering we just landed Morris.
Other Offers: Baylor, Missouri, Texas Tech
I'll take another Jalen. I liked the last one.
Is anyone with the name Jalen named after Jalen Rose? From what I remember, Rose was a compound name, a combination of his father (James or Jimmy) and his uncle (Len).
I know there is a basketball recruit who is also named Jalen, but has anyone ever heard of someone who is Rose's age or older named Jalen? If not, it's pretty cool (though not surprising) that the name has caught on.
Seems to be a name that's not all that uncommon: http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Jalen
Whats interesting there is they have a graph that shows when the name was popular, and it didn't have any data before 1992 (Rose was recruited to michigan in '91). So there's a chance that almost all kids named jalen are named after Rose.
At least some of them were probably inspired by him. On a similar note, I've noticed the occasional Shaquille (sometimes with different spelling) on recruiting lists the last couple of years, too.
It's too bad you don't see more Dikembe's.
there might be a few of them around, just not many over here. On the other hand, he is almost certainly the only Dikembe Mutombo Mpolondo Mukamba Jean-Jacques Wamutombo, which the power of the internets tells me is his full name.
My daughter has twins in her grade named Jalen and Juwan...and another boy named Jalen with an older brother named Chris.
With his height, size, and speed, he would make one hell of a safety. That is basing it off of numbers only. I would love to see some film on him playing safety.
Really like this move of offering an athletic QB that could possible switch positions if need be considering Morris. Devin Fuller is the other name that comes to mind.
Having a big, fast safety that has also played quarterback could definitely be beneficial. He's probably a leader if he's playin QB.
I'd think that he would be more of a WR than S given his height and speed, but then again, I'm almost always wrong
This guy is the perfect QB to take in this class. Between him and Devin Fuller (who I dont think will end up coming here) I can see the staff going after that Conelius Jones* type pleyer. Start at QB but possibly move if it doesnt work out.
*although Jones did say he was being recruited as a safety I'm not mistaken
I heard he's being recruited as a WR.
That is also what I heard.
is really the only kind of "QB" (i.e. an athletic type that could move to a different position) they would take in this class considering Denard and Devin in front and Morris behind, right?
That would be my assumption.
well the last guy who everyone said should be a DB but wanted to be a QB worked out ok.
Woo, I like this. Seems solid enough as an athlete that he could have multiple options if QB doesnt work out (or more accurately (hopefully?), Devin and Shane end up being sick and Bellomy is a solid back-up).
I also like that we aren't necessarily offering ONLY 6-5 statues with rocket arms. I'm fine with that if that's what the coaches want to do, but offering a decent number of mobile QBs plus Bellomy last cycle seems to indicate a flexibility in what Gorgeous Al wants to have his QB do.
EDIT: Magnus says he heard Jalen is being recruited as a WR. Hokay, that works, too. After the month we've had, I'm pretty comfortable with whatever our coaches have going on in recruiting.
the new Michigan tradition. If he commits, does he count as two in one, a WR and QB?
In some ways this is the second coming of Conelius Jones (hopefully without academic adventures).
Also, look at how rural his town is:

That is a tiny city. According to this website the population in 2009 was 1,219.
He is being offered as a WR.
We'll have to see if interest develops. I believe he wants an opportunity to play QB which I doubt he gets with Denard/Devin ahead of him and Morris in line behind him. He could be a real intriguing WR prospect though with his size/speed combo.
When can we expect the hello post?
Check the day after Burbridge commits
If he is being offered at WR, I would have to assume that we will take 2 WRs in this class? I would assume that if you were only taking one it wouldn't be such a project at a position of need in the near future.

Sign him ! I like fullbacks with square heads.
RIP Eddie "Umaga" Fatu
I think we only have room for 1 WR so I think they'll see how the dust settles with the other guys before they would bring him in.
In other WR new Corey Smith committed to Tennessee today. We didn't offer him but he's the teammate of Jarrod Wilson. Jarrod's a safety we like. Those two would like to go to the same school but it's not a deal breaker. Tennessee offered Wilson too so this can't hurt their chances.

Not trying to be a douche, only linking to point out that Smith will almost certainly be going to a JuCo first so the package deal probably isn't happening.
I like this offer. Our tallest WR right now is two inches shorter than Overstreet.
Jeremy Jackson says hi
Yeah, I don't know what the hell happened there. Somehow I read that Jalen was 6'5".
