It is definitely moderately alarming. I saw at least 2 times where Will Johnson had mediocre to poor coverage in man, which was surprising. And a fair bit of grass-covering by guys in zones

Hopefully we'll settle in and improve as the season wears on. We'll need the defense firing on all cylinders against PSU/Maryland/OSU to finish the regular season

I think all the big plays (and a few close incompletions that could’ve been big plays) were on slants. Linebacker/end drops weren’t very effective. Sainristil, Johnson and others were out of position trailing, and safeties were out of position or just whiffed on tackle attempts. Hopefully just shaking the rust off. Most of those players were very effective against those routes the last ~2 years

Almost perfect, another garbage TD late in the game but I'll take it. We got another INT and then scored a TD on that drive.

The starters get an A+ but overall an A. This unit is on fire. Hotter than the 95 degree heat in Lincoln.

NEB is still a B1G team. They are going to have some completions. Equating those catches to TCU game just seems to be too much of an extrapolation. NEB QB is an unknown. He might turn out to be OK. Give him some props. Here is the good news. This offense can compensate for any long TDs this defense gives.

Over half of the Cornshuckers' yardage,  including 3/4 of their rushing yardage was on 3 plays. The first string pass D had just two bad plays, but gave up no points. Great job.

Men against Boys.

Awesome for the good guys, embarassing for the Cornholes.

Love seeing McGregor develop into a stud.  Been a long time coming after his injury in high school, great to see his hard work paying off.

The pass D appeared soft because they played more zone to keep the qb from running. Zone allows eyes in the backfield.  I'm sure the D coaches will be able to coach it better as we go.

This team is relentless. They got speed in the D. They got too many new players and players who haven't played much. Good that we have a few more games to rep. We are good at stopping short yardages. That will be key in big games. Slants are not being defended that will. I saw at least two plays where they could have gotten lose. Hopefully, they figure out the issues before the break.

Glad there is time for them to get more reps and I think they will be a killer D by November. But today, they made NEB's life miserable and made key stops when they needed without their starting DT. Looking forward to October games.

Feels like a vibes based defense that bends but doesn’t break. It’s a bit difference in appearance but trust them to get a stop every time out. They give up yardage at times but they buckle down and get you to 4th down. They sure make you play football every down.

Lights out. Total destruction. QB got some completions, but it seems it's by design, dictated by off coverage, either to make the weaker opponent drive the field or to rep for more skilled teams -- most likely both honestly.

No one's running on this team.

A grade overall. Yeah, they scored......annoying, especially considering Moore and Q-Jo were back there. Also, the dropped slant was probably a TD, couldn't tell with the tight shot, but I think so. Plenty of games left to tighten some things before PSU, though. I think we'll be fine.

Well done....and an INT for the big fella.
