NCAA hires cop to follow recruiting
Will this help??? Talk amongst yourselves.
Just hope they put their main office in SEC country.

Ace Ventura?

to me, but I turned them down.
January 30th, 2012 at 6:54 PM ^
Wait, a single cop? That's hilarious!
(I'm just going off of the tread title, I haven't read the article yet.)

That was my reaction. Just one?
Will they have a "anti free tat" squad for Ohio?
January 30th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
Nobody gets free tats dude. They traded their personal possesions, for tattoos. When you find a parlor that gives away free tats let me know.
January 30th, 2012 at 7:21 PM ^
What is this, a school for ants?
January 30th, 2012 at 6:58 PM ^
He has great credentials and all, but I hope he has a large task force/staff at his disposal. I would hope the NCAA hires one "cop" for each of the SEC teams.
Edit: Must get faster.
January 30th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
I hope he likes the weather down south...
January 30th, 2012 at 7:01 PM ^
In all honesty, I'd be surprised if anybody they hire is much more competent than this guy (or his dog for that matter).
January 30th, 2012 at 10:02 PM ^
Does that make Mark Emmerett Boss Hog?
January 30th, 2012 at 7:04 PM ^
LOL what a joke. So typical of the NCAA. Underdeter, underenforce.
January 30th, 2012 at 7:08 PM ^
They should have a squad of 50000 stationed in Ohio.
January 30th, 2012 at 7:09 PM ^
Forget policing recruiting, finally we have someone that can look into those hooker deaths that occured near the SMU campus in the early 80's
January 30th, 2012 at 7:09 PM ^
Bam! He is going to powerstroke those guys hard and put them up wet.
January 30th, 2012 at 7:14 PM ^
hearing this information from?
January 30th, 2012 at 7:17 PM ^
Not sure if this has hit the news yet, but it will. Word is that Craig James killed 5 hookers while at SMU.

Ashevillain said... I went to google craig james, and by the time I typed "craig ja", it auto corrected with killed 5 hookers.
I doubt that; however, I had a professor at W&L who swares James got him fired at SMU. This professor supposedly caught James cheating & tried to bring up an Honor Violation; then, was fired. He also told me that James was drunk driving one night, hit 5 parked cars & the boosters replaced all 5 cars with a Mercedes so no charges would develop. TIFWIW

If by "hit" they mean "killed" and if by "parked cars" they mean "hookers," then I'd say that that story may have some legs. Time will tell.

seem that his run for senate may hit a snag with this information, if it indeed true...
January 30th, 2012 at 7:25 PM ^
Are you the same person that posted this in another thread?
January 30th, 2012 at 7:20 PM ^
This has got to be a silly joke the NCAA is playing on all of us. There is no way they are stupid enough to think one (probablly corrupt) police officer will make an impact within the NCAA.
January 30th, 2012 at 7:47 PM ^
Does that make me corrupt? It may be stupid for the NCAA to hire one former police officer to tackle the recruiting issue however, it does not mean the person is corrupt. You have a pretty narrow scope of the world posting that crap.
January 30th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
Phil, I didn't mean that all police officers are corrupt. I didn't mean that at all. I respect the police and am very supportive of them. I was implying that the NCAA is corrupt and would probably hire someone (like them) to legitimze their doings.
My appologies, should have specified.
January 30th, 2012 at 7:20 PM ^
Sounds like a new crime drama on CBS. I hope they hire someone who is fiesty, and doesn't play by the rules...but despite public perception, they get RESULTS.
January 30th, 2012 at 7:33 PM ^
Surely they could afford more than one?
January 30th, 2012 at 7:38 PM ^
Probably not, they are a non-profit that are purely around for the success of these fine young men.
January 30th, 2012 at 8:16 PM ^
Maybe Benjamin's squad is the NCAA's new Untouchables. It has taken too long to form a group concentrating only on football. Benjamin will oversee a team of six investigators. It's a start but the barn door's been wide open for years, if you catch my drift.
January 30th, 2012 at 9:26 PM ^
Are they going to monitor Saban?
January 30th, 2012 at 10:22 PM ^
Bet the a.d. at ohio and bama know where the nearest doughnut shop is.
January 30th, 2012 at 10:29 PM ^
Word on the street is that the NCAA is bringing in the heavy guns to monitor Columbus.
January 31st, 2012 at 12:05 AM ^
Its about time! Hope this leads to an in-house officer for Saban, Meyer, all SEC coaches... hell everyone except Michigan, because of our righteousness, outside of b-ball in the 90's : \
January 31st, 2012 at 8:58 AM ^
The NCAA is no use tor anyone if they dont come down on violators!! The NCAA wil not come down on their money makers, case and point Ohio St! Their rules are antiquated and are not enforced with a heavy hand!! Lastly, Jim Delany!! Thank you Mr Delany for making the Big Ten look like the SEC!!
