MVictors.com: Cure for the “Discontented and Hostile” Michigan Factions
Check out this guest post at MVictors.com by John Kryk, author of Natural Enemies (the definitive history of the Michigan - Notre Dame rivalry) and an upcoming book covering Fielding Yost and his point-a-minute teams.
Quite the interesting perspective on what it takes to seal the fissures that exist among the Michigan fanbase.

"becomes a member of one of these warring factions, he places the success of the members of his clique, faction or society above the University good. The unsuccessful factions are then consumed with a burning hatred of those in authority, which naturally leads and has led to (string) pulling and scheming, and to hostile criticism of every act of the athletic management."I will never do this.

...are. Seems prudent to wait just a little while longer before throwing in the towel, n'est-ce pas?

As usual. Natural Enemies is fantastic and I'm sure the new book will be the same

Maybe if every alum was forced to read this 3 years ago we wouldn't be in the position we are in today...

Because random alums liking Rodriguez more would have prevented us from going 3-9 in year one, or would have fixed the defense somehow?

Quoting Dave Brandon:
One of my first objectives was to bring the University of Michigan athletic community together again. We need cohesion among our support group.
If it wasn't a big problem Brandon wouldn't be mentioning it. When former players call into radio stations and bring up the subject, it's a big problem. When recruits hear that there is a faction of fomer players and boosters that hate the current coach, it's a problem.

Isn't this all about a year or two late?

Are we doomed to repeat history or can we get it right this time?

to your chest, with a finger pointing to your right. Now do the opposite with your right hand.
Unfortunately, I suspect that this is exactly what far too many would have done.

I actually acted it out and realized what you did. I have my own opinions on who should be coach. However, no matter who it is, I will support him just as much as I have Coach Rod. If everyone would just shut the F up when we get a new coach and support our team things will be much better for all.

We absolutely need a coach that can come in here and win... And as I have stated earlier, a coach from neither faction that wins here will unite the base the fastest...
I am truly at the point where 'you are either part of the solution, or you're part of the problem"
New coach, get on board or get lost... All In for Michigan!

AP, UPI. Ann Arbor, Michigan. In a surprise turn of events, University of Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon has announced that after the incorporation of the Medical School into the Athletic Department, the Medical School has successfully disinterred Fielding H. Yost, obtained DNA from one of his teeth, and cloned him.
"Now that we have Yost," Brandon's statement reads, "we have decided to discontinue our search for a new Coach."
Brandon added that because Coach Yost is a new clone who has not yet completed the gestation period, Michigan will discontinue its football program until the new coach reaches the age of majority and obtains head coaching experience in a major college athletic program.
It is expected that the Yost clone will also receive 21 years of football instruction from former Michigan coaches, but not from Mr. Rodriguez, the University's most recent coach.

All Brandon has to do is hire a guy who turns out to be one of the best coaches to ever coach and everybody will be all good. As my boys have inexplicably taken to saying, "easy peasy, lemon-squeezy, mac-and-cheesy."
