MSU versus Ohio State - MBB on CBS at 1:00 ET
Not much to watch on TV today with Michigan being shut down for another week, but we do have a men's basketball match-up between a mighty 8-5 MSU team and the #13 ranked Buckeyes. The suckeyes are favored by 6.5 I believe.
Who do you have, and what is the optimal outcome here? I personally hope that Ohio State blows em out by 50 in the first half and that Tiny Tom starts throwing punches at his players in a momentous meltdown where he misses on every swing except for a glancing uppercut to Aaron Henry's crotch.
I hope that a winter storm creates a bunch of leaks in the Value City Arena at halftime, and they are unable to complete the game as well as needing to cancel the remainder of Ohio State's home schedule.
Such are the dreams of a man who starts drinking at breakfast on a Sunday morning!

I want as much of a lead as possible over any big ten contenders. Since MSU isn’t a contender, I want them to upset OSU.

I hate pulling for OSU in anything but this game is the exception. I hate the Whiner worse than any coach - period. Just picking the lesser of two evils and Izzo is about as evil as it gets

I agree with you, another B1G loss for OSU helps us out. MSU winning this game will not get them back in the field, so I’m cool with the Spartans winning

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I see MSU as a greater rival in basketball than OSU (even though they completely suck this year). So, today I will be enjoying another embarrassing Spartan loss.

In my opinion, MSU is the bigger rival in hoops. I don’t think it’s really close either.
They could legitimately miss the tournament this year. I feel certain that their resume won’t deserve inclusion, but for them to be left out they’ll probably need an extra 2 losses+ compared to anyone not named MSU. That would be fantastic.

Definitely not an unpopular opinion. In football the teams I hate the most are osu>>msu>>notre dame. In basketball it goes msu>>osu>>Indiana>>dook

I think that's a normal opinion. I've always felt like OSU is the top rival for football but MSU is for everything else. I can tell you for sure MSU is the bigger rival in basketball and hockey

I think most basketball fans would agree that MSU is the bigger rivalry. Beilein beat OSU in his first season but it wasn't that big of a deal. When he finally beat Izzo (the Aneurysm of Leadership!) it was a huge, program-altering moment.
The OSU series was pretty important in Trey Burke's two seasons, since he was from Columbus, and we had the Elite Eight game against them in '92. Otherwise, the games against them don't really stand out to me.

Was at the game in "92! Lexington had been taken over by Ohio State fans the whole weekend. Rupp was easy 70-30 that day. Great game, but the best was walking out and having a group of OSU fans chanting UC (Cinncy) at us and my old man yelling back U Saw! I was fortunate to go to the tourney run in '89 and '92 in Lexington.

As much as it pains me, I have to agree but just for today. Hate MSU BB and Izzo far worse. Now football is a whole different thing. Just tired of the a-holes in East Lansing constantly bragging about their "superior" BB program

I believe that the quarantine is supposed to end after next weekend, so we will miss the Northwestern game (away) and then play Illinois at home on the 11th. I really think we should revisit this and look at how we are doing against the virus and try to fit the NW game in. I really don't want to be off until the 11th and then have to face Illinois with a lot of rust on our wheels!

It's always someone else's fault. The refs.... the players....the injuries. I'm shocked he hasn't blamed Covid. Every once in a blue moon............ he ...............actually takes the blame.

sparty has a difficult schedule going forward, they're going to lose a few of them and we need some space as we may lose a game or few due to no practice or games for 2+ weeks. It makes me sick to even type the words, go sparty.

Strangely enough I find myself rooting for (this is so hard to admit) osu. There's a different level of hate in basketball. I can't stand that overrated troll. Plus all the covid excuses for Sharty's losing ways are pissing me off. Everyone has the same handicap.
