Monday NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP DAY Posbang

Hey you guys, I had a dream last night that Michigan was playing in the National Championship game as the favorite.

What a dream.

I hate that it's a work day. Would love to be there to attend with friends who live in Houston (also alums).

That said, Go Blue! Beat them Dawgs!  By far the dumbest dog breed I've ever had as a pet.

I agree. The only saving grace is that the game appears to be one hour earlier than usual, presumably due to the central time zone, at least for us eastern time zone folks.

I heard this week on Cowherd (?) that college football is the second most watched sport in this country. I wish they'd keep the championship game on Saturdays.  F the NFL; play the championship game on Saturday.  I know bowl season and New Years makes that wonky and yet we always seem to be able to manage to play it on a Monday every year.

I wonder what is the incremental number of viewers they think they gain by playing it on a Monday night, usually late into the night although less so this year.  Certainly makes it harder for many to have a get together over the game.

Its about money. Its the same reason the super bowl is later than it was 20 years ago.  They'd have it earlier in the day where now its as late as possible so the people there have to stay in a hotel another night and spend more money.

The NCAA final 4 is on Saturday night with the championship on Monday night.  Thats 3-4 days in a hotel room and several meals if your team makes it to Monday night.

Anyone going to the NC tonight most likely arrived Sunday and will stay two nights unless youre going to fly back home after the game and get home at 2am.

Its not about the fans, its about whats going to make the network and the cities these games are in the most money.

There's no question that it's about the money.  I'm just saying that I wish it weren't so.

There are many circumstances in which money isn't entirely dispositive of the issue.  For example, they probably could make more money by moving The Game a bit later.  The noon kickoff creates a 9AM PST kickoff.  I know west coast viewership isn't as high but they could probably add some viewers without losing the already-committed viewers.  Separately, my understanding is that the in-attendance dollars pale in comparison to the TV advertising dollars.

I should’ve taken today and tomorrow off of work to just soak this all in but I am dumb and didn’t. 25 years of pain and heartbreak to get here, just let us get this one.

Today I am the bad guy from Ghostbusters 2.  He fed on the negativity New York.  I am tapped into the energy of all the haters stewing in their own liver-eating-die-mad anger about Michigan being here.

I want each and every one of those fuckers to understand I am being sustained and invigorated by their fear and bad energy.  This evening, their worst nightmare comes true.  Tomorrow, they will be unable to open social media because of all the Harbaugh smiles and uses of "Bet."

No question, XM.

I'm playing the "duality of man" card on this one.  I am enjoying all the shade and anger that the weak have right now.  But, gun to my head, I'm even more sated by all the love for this team and comradery we have as a fan base.  At 11, if I see two dudes in their team's favorite hoody, I'll ignore the MSU/OSU guy and give the Michigan fan a big hug.

Sorry, double post.  Probably a bit too excited 11 hours from kickoff.  Fortunately, Blake Corum and his teammates are staying focused and calm, within their own zone.

Today, team 144 has the opportunity to summit the NCAA mountain and to plant the Michigan flag at the apex of college football.

What a day. What a lovely day!

Washington is a great opponent, I have absolutely no ill will towards them at all. But in a few hours, I will want us to destroy their souls.

There will be little work completed today. There will almost certainly be little work completed tomorrow.

Go Blue!
