Moderator Action Sticky
Brian has requested that instead of deleting each individual comment in the Moderator Action Sticky, that we instead just create a new thread. It takes hours of less time, preserves the comments for future explanations, and just clears things up faster.
You'll notice that the previous thread is now locked, and will slowly fade back into darkness. For the time being, the link from the Useful Stuff menu will point to the wrong location. We're working on a fix for that.
This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.
NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

It's good, very true. It's still not a board topic.

I simply had to pull it. OP was not being insensitive and was simply looking to inform the MGoCommunity but no good could come of this thread (other than informing people of the irony of Sandusky's book title).
November 8th, 2011 at 12:59 PM ^
Thanks, but no thanks. This thread was nicely summarized by Bronson using an image of a flexible woman that is apparently able to physically bend over and kiss her own backside. Oh, to be savvy and able to post that image here . . . alas, you'll just have to make your own mental picture. Rest assured, its a great image.
November 8th, 2011 at 1:58 PM ^
No offense to the OP intended. This Penn State scandal/tragedy is so ginormous that I feel the need to try to limit the new threads a bit. There's going to be hundreds of articles and people affected by it and I think we're going to have to try to introduce new articles and ancillary information in existing threads if and when possible, especially during football season. (Obvious disclaimers apply for important new information - I know its subjective and I'll do my best not to block information that people might be interested in reading.)

Thanks for the heads up. I'm having trouble keeping up today.
Do you remember this poster's username? I deleted the post before I wrote his/her name down. They might be a candidate for caving.
November 8th, 2011 at 4:08 PM ^
It was a first post and the name was a reference to a bible verse. Don't remember which one, though, so that doesn't really help you narrow it down.
November 8th, 2011 at 4:30 PM ^
It was something like that but he/she doesn't turn up on a site search. Well, "Rom 3 23-??" if you are reading this, do not make a religious post like you did again, please. Thanks.

Improper on so many levels including, but not limited to, being more properly a comment to a pre-existing thread and failing to set forth any kind of reasoning as to why the statement is true.

Not sure where I should write about this...
My real account (Jinxed) keeps getting captchas thrown at it whenever I try posting anything. I originally had 250-300 points but made a thread that apparently angered one of you guys and got negged to -1232492342304239432149... I mentioned it here and got brought back to -1. However, the whole situation with the captchas makes that account unusable because every time I miss one I get locked out. Is there anything that can be done?
November 8th, 2011 at 11:00 PM ^
Not familiar with these newfangled interwebs. Your account is back up to 20 points, though, so they seem to be coming back slowly. If they don't return all the way, let me know and I'll give you a bump.

I'm trying to let as much information be posted as possible but I'm going to draw the line at new threads created about reporters/writers opining simply to get their name in the paper. No offense to Brian's equivalent at Black Shoe Diaries, of course. FWIW, Its definitely an "interesting" discussion (I use the word interesting because its funny to see our comments about how this guy is an idiot).
November 9th, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
The story is very interesting (link here if you want to read - credit to MGoUser uniqenam for discovery: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/09/sports/ncaafootball/questions-on-sandusky-wrapped-in-2005-gricar-mystery.html?_r=1&ref=ncaafootball) but its only circumstantially relates to PSU football and is thus just a little too OT to stand.

It looks like he's deleted his signature line, so there's that. But the most obnoxious part is that he's been a member for almost a year but only decides to start posting now, on this sensitive topic, with that silly Family Guy photoshop. I left it up in one thread so I could respond and inform him of his current holiday in Bolivia.
November 9th, 2011 at 4:40 PM ^
OP mentions that previous thread on this topic was taken down and so he tried again. It was probably me that took it down, but I don't remember which one it was . . . Nevertheless, OP all but admitted that his first post was not proper and, as such, this thread is guilty by association. OP, please don't try a third time. User Mgrowold gave some good advice: "The old saying "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again" does NOT apply to posting content."

In this thread, I threw in a post of a PSA-type nature that I'd actually considered as it's own thread topic. But, seeing a Sticky-ed thread, I decided to put it in there first. It was marked as "trolling." What gives? I'm sure it wasn't Pulitzer-worthy, and maybe it didn't ultimately deserve it's own thread (and has not become one), but I'm curious as to why it was marked as "trolling." Can someone explain, please?
November 10th, 2011 at 7:32 AM ^
I deleted a bunch of the new Penn State threads that popped up overnight--leaving the Paterno fired thread, that's real news.
By the way, the consolidated Penn State thread is not censorship--whatever you may think. It's an attempt to consolidate the conversation. Overnight, there two news articles speculating about the same stuff everyone is already speculating about and a thread about how many PSU recruits Michigan can expect to land. All were redundant and didn't add anything to the conversation.
November 10th, 2011 at 7:48 AM ^
- Please stop creating a thousand Penn State threads. Board cleanliness is next to Modliness.
- Pedophilia jokes == Bolivian

Let me first say that this one took some balls:
"I am shocked at the appalling reaction from supposedly intelligent mgoblog members as well as a cowardly deletion of the post w/o any explanation, either in the forum or in an email."
Let me next say that thereare three posts by three seperate Mods above that explain that numerous threads have been deleted en masse. ZoneLeft clearly directed everyone to the comprehensive threads for posting PSU comments/thoughts/proposals. You don't have to like the way we're handling it but that doesn't mean you don't have to comply.
Finally, on a more personal level, let me say that I posted the link to the actual grand jury indictment for people to read yesterday, so its clear that at least one Mod read it. For what its worth, I had to skip the specifics about the victims because it was so appalling and disgusting to read. Next time, do some research before personally berating us for doing our jobs.
Your points will return on Monday.

I'll list each of the threads I unpublish today here and, time permitting, will take the extra step to cut-paste the text of the OT into the Friday PSU Thread so that the thought/news is not lost and effort is not wasted. Hopefully this will help ease any hard feelings.

In the words of David from Wyoming... there is no thread.
November 14th, 2011 at 12:08 PM ^
"I know, I know, I checked the spreadsheet, but thought I'd try a more direct route."
This is probably the 10th "need tickets" thread I've had to unpublish this fall. Its cool that people want to keep tickets in-house, amongst fellow members. I can understand that. I got my UTL tickets from a fellow MGoMember and I was so very appreciative. And I can also understand the difficulty of finding tickets for an obscure-ish game like Michigan-Alabama A&M. But services like Stubhub, eBay, etc, etc. exist for purchasing tickets online.
As such, there has to be some kind of penalty (above and beyond simply unpublishing the thread) for blantant and purposeful violations of the no "need tickets" threads rule. Its disrespectful of our time. Henceforth, any more "need tickets" threads that include a statement that the OP knows that the ticket spreadsheet exists will be unpublished and OP will be docked points.

Why has Ohioblueblood not been banned for his blatant MGopoint whoring via repeated thread necromancy?
Most recent examples on p.2 of the board at the time of this writing: 9/16/09 thread "Does Brian have pictures of Hinton?" has 97 new posts, 9/17/09 thread "What is the status of Junior" has 91, 8/13/10 thread "Will MIchigan's defense be running the Arizone Desert Swarm" has 56.
Apparently mere point deductions don't work, because he just does this again.
