If I didn't already know him this interview would make me think he was kind of an idiot. "Don't get caught" was a little strange to say in an interview in full uniform and also seemed like a lot of rambling. Am I the only one ?

Anyway, I like Mitch and I'll be rooting for him - just a weird interview.

I love McGary, but I can't see anything about him without being disappointed he is not coming back next season. The NCAA is so stupid, they do many things correctly but unfortunately they also do things like suspend a player a year for smoking weed. The NCAA has lost all their support because they are a bunch of old men that are insanely out of touch. Dear NCAA, can you please direct your attention to schools like Ole Miss and stop worrying about if a player put Creme cheese on his bagel.

mirrors the way things work in most societies--the guy at the bottom goes to prison for stealing a candybar while the people and institutions that organize the serious extraction of wealth from your pocket, well, they run the show. The organization never WAS going to be able to police itself real well. . .

They're cheap because of their market. People often forget they play in one of the smallest markets in the NBA. What they have done is downright impressive. Sure, they got lucky on some picks, but they've taken several picks (Adams, McGary) that people laughed at and look pretty good in hindsight. I don't think there are too many teams that are run better.

Not to mention this fella named Serge Ibaka who they drafted late first round, stashed overseas for a year of development, and turned him into a star. They haven't been perfect with all their acquisitions, but they've built an excellent championship caliber team despite their small market stature.

God's plan was for him to smoke a blunt, test postitive, get suspended and then get drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. God truly does work in mysterious and stoned ways.

I'm not sure where Mitch is at right now but I know that he was not religious through high school. He also got some Christian friends in high school that he's kept in contact with while at Michigan. Getting suspended for a year and essentially being forced to go pro when you're not ready was probably really stressful and tough for him. Yes, it appears it's turning out good for him, but the journey there wasn't fun.

Like I said, I don't know what his beliefs are right now, but through the injury and then suspension, he thought more about that stuff.

Not a big deal, but McGary's agent needs to give him a couple PR lessons. I realize McGary is justifiably bitter about his suspension, but "just don't get caught" is not a very smart thing to say in an interview. If McGary was LeBron, ESPN would probably devote 80% of their coverage over the next 48 hours to what was really just a dumb harmless joke.
