Mike Woodson could replace Tom Crean at Indiana
The New York Daily News reports that if Knicks coach Mike Woodson gets canned, he could get the job at Indiana. Not the Pacers, but the Hoosiers, who lost in the first-round of the Big Ten tournament Thursday and could look to replace coach Tom Crean.
Mike Woodson is a long shot to survive the anticipated purge at MSG. However, he may have a job lined up sooner than later. According to a source, Woodson would be a top candidate at his alma mater, Indiana University, if current coach Tom Crean does not return. The source claims that several prominent IU boosters are pushing to buy out Crean and install Woodson, a product of Indianapolis, as the coach.
Woodson, according to a team source, has been resigned to the fact that this would be his last season with the Knicks even before last Friday, when the Daily News first reported that Madison Square Chairman James Dolan had offered Phil Jackson a front-office job. Jackson has said on numerous occasions that he is no longer interested in coaching.
This sounds similiar to "Jim Harbaugh to Michigan".
And we all know how that ended.
HE ruined their program ;)

No way, Indiana MUST poach Steve Alford from UCLA for the sake of both fanbases sanity.
My takeaway from this article only concerns Mike Woodson's prospects, not Indiana's. Guy is likely to be fired and the writer just connected a few dots and ventured an educated guess on a landing spot and ran with it and voila! article.
No idea about the credibilty of this rumor, but it does raise a question of interest to me. That is, how does someone with the abrasiveness and classlessness of Tom Crean make it to this level? I obviously don't know the man personally, but his public displays of clownishness are embarassing for his program. I don't know how, as an Indiana fan, you could be proud to call someone like that the leader of your program.
If there are boosters who are so embarassed by him that they'd pay to buy him out, it wouldn't shock me.

As an IU student for the last 4 years, I can confirm that they do in fact see him that way. They don't like him, they've just tolerated him because he brought them back up with recruiting. That's by far the majority feeling around here.
I am constantly baffled that Mike Woodson gets job offers. ANY job offers.
Woodson's an OK coach. His biggest problem is that he coaches for a team owned by Tommy Boy. No coaches are successful under Dolan because players quickly discover that the owner wants to be their friend and will cater to their every demand.
The Clown Prince is the worst.
