A Fan In Fargo

Mike was going to tell his parents but someone texted him the Michigan starting d-line and backups. Joey Bosa was drunk texting my fat ugly inbred cousin from southern Ohio telling her that Weber locked himself in his dorm room and people heard crying from out in the hall. Just the way I heard it man.

I'd be surprised if he isn't the worst RB they've had in recent history.  Wonder if the fans will turn on him if he struggles.

I also wouldn't be surprised if he's really good... your comment sounds somewhat personal. How do you know how good he will be? He's the starting running back for Ohio State after all. Can't remember a bad running back that ever started for an Urban Meyer team. It's not like they recruit poorly. Even if he is good, which I think he will be, I wouldn't be surprised if he has a "difficult" time when he faces Michigan. He goin DOWN.

Gotta disagree, bro. The class act wouldn't have recorded the call and put it on the Internet. I can see recording it to show the son how they reacted, but this just a recruiting tool. No respect here. Too late to show how committed your running backs coaches are to the players. And kick his ass in November for the playoff spot.

Nah, he's dead to me.

But I hope the young man is well served by his tOSU degree.

Nice way for the coaches to handle something like that. I would hope that Michigan does something similar.

Alot of sour grapes here. Even if he is the starter due to lack of other options...good for him. He got what he wanted, which is a starting role in big time college football. I for one am okay with that even if it isn't at M. Good luck to him. Strap em on in November young man, it's going to be a war! Go Blue!

I agree. It sucks that he didnt come here, but I dont envy having to make the choice that he did. I wish him the best and hope he puts up great numbers until we roll into town.  Then, when we shut him down it's that much more respect for us. Iron sharpens iron and all that.  We need a great sparring partner if we're headed to the playoffs.

I agree with that as well.  It's really a win-win kind of choice.

While obviously a the UM degree makes it a no-brainer for a middle aged fella such as me, my 18 y/o self would have struggled with a choice between a declining 5-7 team with a new coach vs a proven trophy hoisting powerhouse.

I cant fault a baller for wanting to ball, and I expect that at this point he still has no regrets about the choice.  Hopefully that changes soon.

Our "wandering in the desert" is on us, not the recruits trying to do what's best for themselves.  Just my opinion anyway.

I think we'll look back and rue the Higdon/Weber trade; I think Weber will be very good. And it's maybe looking like the Walker won't make up for it. Having a highly ranked Detroit guy in your grasp and then taking another RB causing him to leave to your biggest rival. That's rough man.

This and more importantly, Weber had plenty of time to grab the spot. If he wanted it, he should have taken it.  He waited, Michigan got impatient and took another back on signing day.  Higdon may have "caused" Weber to leave but it was Weber's own lack of action that cost him the spot.

Come on, that's harsh.  Part of recruiting is managing personalities of 17-18 year olds.  Weber long wanted UM, but UM had Damien Harris.  When Harris de-committed, Weber was in.  But then UM tore itself apart, fired the head coach who players and recruits really seemed to like universally, and, hey, there's the guys who just won the national championship who really want you too.  Do you really blame him?  He had been bounced around a ton in his recruitment.  I think UM should have made him a 'plant the flag' type of priority.  But hey, that's just me.  I'm just going to be consistantly bothered when he starts for 3 years and racks up 1000 yard seasons every year.

If Harbaugh had been hired a year earlier I think Weber would be at Michigan right now. Weber's heart has always been in Detroit and I think he truly wanted to stay home. Once Hoke was fired I think Weber felt uncertain. Weber looked at OSU and saw Zeke Elliott essentially punching his 1st round NFL ticket as he ran through the playoffs. OSU was stable and I think Weber sort of decided to make a business decision and go to OSU despite his heart not entirely being in it. I think this mindset showed itself when Weber basically committed to Michigan the night before signing day before changing course once Higdon committed. I'm happy we have Weber, but I still believe Michigan was where he always wanted to go.

Do they have anyone else left besides walk ons, true freshmen, and H-Backs who would not be able to handle that many carries in a season?

I'm sure Weber is good in his own right, but after Dunn was given the boot, I think this was pretty much a given.
