Michigan vs MSU 2021 - First Ever Matchup of Undefeated teams in the Rivalry's History?
With Mich playing NW next and MSU playing Indiana, it looks very likely that the 2021 version of Michigan/MSU will feature 2 undefeated teams. Has that ever happened? I'm guessing maybe back in the early 1900s when they may have played each other in the first or second game of the season?

This is good news because OSU if full of them.

Could be. Martinez is a tough guy to prepare for in general. That said, I thought Macdonald only was outcoached in the 3rd quarter. Nebraska’s TD drive in the 4th was a lot of improvisation by Martinez, and the next two drives we stopped them.

Improv is a luxury of having a mobile quarterback. The downfall is if one is loose with the ball or makes bad decisions like he does. Denard used to almost single handily win games with his athleticism. Lamar did at Louisville and has in the NFL.

I like this comment. Pre-game - just about everyone said Martinez was good for creating two TDs so some of the scoring and the way it they scored was to be expected. However, Nebraska did not score on every drive and was pretty much controlled after the first drive for the first half.
My butt cheeks were as tight as anyone's for the entire second half but in retrospect would anyone be surprised if Michigan weathered the storm (without the fumble) and won in overtime without Nebraska ever scoring again?

Don't get ahead of ourselves...

1. Get healthy
2. Work with the LBs on coverage and knowing who is the hot receiver. Rutgers did this to us and Nebraska just found ways to exploit this
3. Focus on NW (mostly) - maybe one day focused on just MSU this coming week on Naylor and Walker (he is making a lot of yards on cutbacks)
4. Week of game focus on NW and putting them away by 3rd quarter so JJ can play more

If we ignore the pollsters (always a good idea) and look at a numbers based evaluation (Sagarin seems pretty good) instead of our admittedly bias eyes, we see:
MSU ranked 26th strength of schedule to date 58th. Future predictor ranked 34th
Michigan ranked 6th strength of schedule to date 16th. Future predictor ranked 6th
So, right now it makes lots of sense that we are ranked higher. We’ll see how that plays out.

Win the bye week, beat NW.
1999, each team 5-0, Henson, Brady, Bill Burke, Plaxico Burress, Anthony Thomas, Hayden Epstein and a cast of dozens. Great game, poor outcome.

Don’t ask MGo if something has ever happened before without at least trying to find it. A simple google search would have found you your answer.

So state has a bye week the week before they play us?
thanks big ten

Do some research and you'll see that UM is usually the team with the bye before playing MSU.

MSU will be a tough game. Forget the idiots on both sides name bashing, predicting a lopsided win for one side or the other, etc. The last 20+ years has shown us those that enter this game overly confident get burned.
UM needs to play above their heads in Sparty stadium. Doable. But won’t be easy.
