Connor Cook's season:

12/27     74 yards    44% completion    2.74ypa     0td    0int    67.5 QB rating

Dantonio is starting the QB with the worst completion percentage, worst ypa, and worst rating on the team. It must be becaues of his explosive 45 yards rushing on the year.

It seems quite a few teams this year are looking for a Johnny Manziel-like season from a young QB and throwing an athletic true or RS frosh out into the starting mix.  The problem is, even if very talented, most make too many mistakes, have to have the playbook cut down to the basics, and are too easily rattled with a hostile crowd.  In short, they play more like freshmen than Heisman trophy winners.

I'm sure the talk up in EL is how they're still going to dominate us, despite having a joke of an offense with no QB, no RB, no TE, a tattered offensive line, and no WRs who can catch the ball.

That might be a low scoring game, but I can't imagine Greg Mattison's defense letting MSU even sniff the endzone, much less cross the goal line.

MSU is still going to be a tough out. I suspect that UM will have to run a lot of max protect to keep Devin form "60 minutes of necessary roughness". I would be nice if it wasn’t true but I'm generally worried about him scrabbling this game.

Haven't watched MSU yet this year, but I've heard the offensive horror show rumors.   Who's mostly to blame?  QB play?   Horrible OL?   WR's who can't get open or can't catch?   Slow RB's?   Or a terrible amalgam of "all of the above"?   I'll have to record their game this week to catch a sneak peak.

Burbridge seems to have a case of the dropsies. However outside of Bell last year AB was their most dependable offensive weapon. And Arnett didn't get targeted that much. But alot of that doesn't matter if the guy throwing the ball can't throw.

This offense will continue to be horrible until Terry takes the keys. He is by far their most talented QB. Followed by O'Connor. So of course they announce Cook as the starter.

.....the pick is so obvious.

Shilique Calhoun. Soph. DE.

I mean, he has more TD's (3) in their first two games, than the entire offense (2) combined!

So, I'm a bit confused about Terry.  It looks like he was a highly regarded recruit (4* #16 QB) but only had offers from MSU, Duke, BC and Illinois.  Seems weird for a 4*.

Then, looking forward, they should lose 6-7 starters on D next year.  So, the D won't be nearly as good and the offense is likely to suck maybe a little bit less.  Oh Sparty, their only hope is that we recruit so well that we only take 5*, leaving more in-state kids for them to pickup.

Also, maybe they should move to a dome, because even the weather hates State.

If there are a couple things I enjoy about the Spartans of MSU they include:

  1. Consuming alcohol in excess

  2. Appreciating a couch fire

  3. Being Arrested, is a rite of passage.

  4. When it comes to winning, losing, starting, or not starting, they have a good time, in the form of drinking, and could care less what really happens. If a bear shits in the woods, do you smell it? If your teams loses, and you can't remember it, who cares.

  5. They don't score particularly well on the ACT, or SAT.

  6. They only remember 3 years of Football, and enjoy drooling on themselves, when in dicussions about Tiko Duckett, Bad Moon Rising, or Jeff Smoker.

  7. They will remind you of their basketball team, and Jud Heathcoat, often.
