The Oracle 2

Simple but true. I’ve seen up close, many times, how arbitrary life and death are, and how where someone chooses to be, when they choose to be there, and who they choose to associate with can have tragic consequences, even when the person themselves was doing nothing wrong. I’m glad the kid is ok. I hope he learns a lesson.

Listen, I'm all for lessons/consequences when someone makes a questionable choice, but if you're in a home and someone comes in shooting, the only person at fault is the shooter. Don't give me the "in with the wrong crowd" nonsense, either. You know nothing about this kid's life, so just wish for a swift recovery and leave it at that. Everything else is gross.

This is an absurd statement. You don't control where you grow up, and Joliet, IL isn't exactly a great place to be. You don't just "avoid associating" with people you've known your whole life, and sometimes things aren't that simple.

Honestly dude, don't fucking talk to me about what "parts of life" I know. You know precisely dick about where I grew up and what I know.

Your handle *is* "The Oracle 2". Is this just part of your shtick of pretending you know things when actually talking out of your ass?

I didn't say anything about random or not random. If a kid grows up in a bad neighborhood in a dangerous city, it's not random at all. There are going to be people like this in his life. And some kids are going to be very close to people like that. This is true of Michigan players, OSU players, Oregon St. players, etc.

Acting like the kid's doing something wrong by simply being in his home town with people he was close with growing up is not a good look. He's still a Freshman. It takes a long time to remove these types of connections from your life, and if you grow up where this is what you know, it's not even a deal breaker as long as they don't try to get you to do anything illegal.

All I'm saying is this: focus blame where it belongs. Solely on the person who did the shooting. That's it. I'm done talking about this.

I don’t disagree with you in general in fact in many ways I passionately agree with you. Loyalty and friends are real.

However you can’t exclude the hey dude this scene could end up with trouble concept.

I have put myself in plenty of shitty situations and didn’t deserve to get hurt.  Doesn’t mean I was doing the smart thing or the wrong thing.

I don't know if you're talking to me on this because the formatting is tough to tell. However, if you are: I wasn't saying I had any superior knowledge whatsoever. I was saying that he has no insight into what my life experience is or what I know, because I am (as you said) a poster on the internet. He made an assumption that I haven't seen these parts of life. He's mistaken, but the point isn't what I know. It's that he knows nothing about me.

Yeah it's not like Chicago has a thriving food scene, awesome music, great cocktails, fun shopping, solid pizza (Pequod's only, thanks), 6 major sports teams (including soccer), decently reliable transit, a world-class artistic culture, and a fun and exciting blend of cultures that give it a unique personality.

People want to lean on gang violence in Chicago like it's the identifying characteristic of the city when it's not even in the 25 most dangerous places in the U.S. It's not even as dangerous as Indianapolis in homicide rate.

Fun talking point, though. Also Joliet sucks.

serious response:  glad the wound is not more serious, surgery and all, could've been worse.

not so serious response: waiting for tiny tom to blame the kid for getting shot, with a weak, 'we should coach better about that' comment to make it look like it's not as bad.

Plax is only dangerous to himself. The only tragedy in that instance was that the shot that went down his pants didn't render him unable to procreate.

Back when I actually cared about pro football, I was a Giants fan. I couldn't believe the level of stupidity with that guy.

He got shot in the leg and her in the pelivs. Could it have been  from the same bullet if they were, uh, in the prone position? I "fear" someone found Fears and his companion in a compromising position and didn't approve.

Love all the wieners posting things like "nothing good happens after midnight." Oh okay, you were in bed by 10 pm every single night when you were in college then? As a dude who got through school delivering for Pizza House: a lot of good kids are still awake at 3:30 am.
