Michigan Injury Status (Speculative)

Submitted by Navy Wolverine on

With a handful of players getting dinged yesterday, I’m starting to lose track of all our injuries. Since colleges don’t go public who is hurt and severity of injury, it is hard to keep track of them all. Here are all the injuries that seem to be known and their severity going into the game next weekend. Could be missing somebody. It’s that time of year when everyone has injuries but we have 11 major contributors who could be out and a handful of others who have some significant issues.

Doubtful / Out

QB Wilton Speight - Neck
WR Tarik Black - Foot
TE Nick Eubanks – Upper body / neck?
OT Grant Newsome - Leg

Questionable

CB Lavert Hill – Concussion
WR Kekoa Crawford – Lower Body?
WR Nico Collins – Lower Body
RB Karan Higdon – Lower Body / Ankle
RB Ty Isaac – Lower Body
OG – Mike Onwenu – Lower Body
DE Rashan Gary – Shoulder? Might be probable but he didn’t return after getting injured

Probable

CB David Long – Knee
WR Grant Perry – Lower Body? Doghouse? Not sure but played very little yesterday and missed some time before that
RB Kareem Walker – Lower body / ankle? Played yesterday but has been dinged up
TE Ty Wheatley – Lower Body?? Played as well yesterday but has also been dinged up

I'm guessing that Onwenu is fine for Wisconsin.  He was dressed and standing on the sideline and huddling near the field like the other back-ups against Maryland.  I'll bet he could have played, but they decided to give him another week to heal up and give Ruiz another game of experience.

I think Michigan fans outnumbered Maryland fans.  Seriously.

Michigan fans overwhelmingly outnumbered Maryland fans on my path to the stadium beside the XFinity center.  But that may have been a function of where one-timers versus season ticket holders park.

I remember Eubanks getting rocked weeks ago and haven't seen him since. Do we have any other suggestive speculation on his health? Otherwise Id guess a bad concussion. Speight wore a turtle shell type brace after injury. That would suggest a back, not neck injury.

Another "make shit up as we go" thread. This one is especially bad.

Note that this is not directed at the OP, because it's a bit useful to have a summary of injured players, but we have such little information that the armchair doctoring + blatant trolling makes everything but the OP rather useless.

has appeared to be dealing with a shouldler "thing" for a few games, most likely he aggravated it Saturday and most likely its a nerve issue.

Michigan seemed very cautious with injuries both before and during this game.

the D has actually been pretty lucky in terms of injuries, reaching week 10 before any major contributors get banged up and/or potentially miss extended time.  they dont rotate much (obviously great 3rd down D plays big part) yet still managed to stay healthy - its been great.

they mostly just roll with 3 CB and 4-5 LB to go with 2 S (thomas, glasgow, gil, etc earned few snaps here and there) and limited DL rotation.  aside from garbage time, theyve only played like 18-19 guys (5 DB, 5 LB, 8-9 DL) thru 10 games which is impressive.  im sure brown would love another S, LB, etc he can trust in most situations but it is what it is - and its worked for most part.  hopefully most guys can go bc they clearly need hill, gary, etc vs wisc.

O is another story though with injuries everywhere on that side - and its shown.  but thats football.  its why recruiting, player development and coaching matter so much, obviously - and why many fans take such an interest.  all 85 matter, as do walkons.  a preseason strength can become a question area in a flash.

sorry, longer post than i intended.  heres to the fellas healing up quickly - wisc will be fun for them but itll be a battle

Angelique said that Hurst told the media that Gary's injury was no big deal. Higdon was walking normally after the game and smiling with friends and family.
