The only bowl gear I ever purchased was the 1997 Rose Bowl / national champs stuff. I went to the game and still have my ticket and program. It was a hot and sunny day with dry Santa Ana winds. I remember I wore my heavy Michigan sweater and was so glad when the sun set behind the mountains because I was sweating like crazy. I have no idea why I wore a sweater.

Right on Durham Blue. I'm wearing my Big Ten Champion/Rose Bowl sweatshirt from that year as I write this. It still fits and I was doing yard work this afternoon. Was at that game also. The greatest, most glorious football game I ever witnessed. Tailgated on the golf course north of the Rose Bowl. Still remember it like it was yesterday. Still have the National Championship Hat, too.

It was a fun time being in SoCal for that event. I went with my brother and friend, all three of us alums. We stayed in Huntington Beach at a family friend's house and went to a NYE party the night before the game. We all got lit and stayed at the party until 3:30 am. Then woke up at 7am, drove 1 hour to the Rose Bowl and tailgated from 10am until game time. We were hung over and tired but it was totally worth it. My sweat probably reeked of gin and whisky. Whatever though...good times.

I think this Alabama vs Michigan matchup was known since about 1 or 2 days after Alabama lost to Auburn. I think that's why Alabama was ranked at #12 the following Tuesday night by the CFP committee. Now they're at 13th. They should be at like 5th.

I agree. I don't know if it's recency bias but to me it feels like Alabama is the same ole Alabama. They have high star talent up and down their roster. Defensively they haven't put it together for some strange reason. With the extra practice I fear they will go full death star on our asses.
