Fucking proud of them. Wish the other students and athletes across the country had this sort of discipline.
September 5th, 2020 at 5:12 PM ^
Something to be proud of. Hope someone (Schlissel?) is paying attention.
September 5th, 2020 at 5:37 PM ^
The less students infected the better, and I’m sure he’s happy about that, but why should be paying attention otherwise?
September 5th, 2020 at 6:07 PM ^
The anti-Schlissel circle jerk the past few days has been hilarious. Not like he's a renowned epidemiologist or anything who knows what he's talking about...
September 5th, 2020 at 6:59 PM ^
He may be an epidemiologist, but he has a fake degree from some guy named Johnny Hopkins.
I used to smoke pot with Johnny Hopkins and Sloane Kettering. They were blazing that shit up like every day
September 5th, 2020 at 10:31 PM ^
He’s not an epidemiologist and is not a public health expert. He does research in Immunology, which is QUITE different.
September 5th, 2020 at 7:05 PM ^
Maybe you should credit Schlissel for being the one who leads the university and all of its safety protocol instead of acting like all he’s done is be a wambee pambee virology expert?
September 6th, 2020 at 2:02 AM ^
If he was so worried, maybe he wouldn’t be stuffing 9,500 freshmen in the dorms.
there is greater risk with that, then there is with the 500+/- people in the athletic Dept.

Paging Rob F, can we get an ice thickness update on Cajones? The tropical waters of Bolivia are beckoning.
Edit: This comment was made in jest. Move along please.
September 5th, 2020 at 5:32 PM ^
The OP is praising the Univeristy while making a pretty funny comparison. What’s the beef?
September 5th, 2020 at 5:34 PM ^
It was a joke people!
September 6th, 2020 at 2:43 PM ^
You're just getting downvoted by the "let them play" crowd, don't sweat it.
September 5th, 2020 at 7:00 PM ^
Linked MLive, deserves ban hammer

Having been to the border of Bolivia, but not in it (Peru), the waters are not tropical. However, the waters of Lake Titicaca are very suitable to be cast into.

Mattters Not. This was a Political decision and we All know it..Apparenty the so called scientific Experts In the Midwest have a entirely different view...Just depends on what color state you live in which makes it POLITICAL
September 5th, 2020 at 6:09 PM ^
If you actually think that this was a political move or some Democratic ploy to hurt Republicans then you need to take your tin foil hat off. This is all about liability for the schools
September 5th, 2020 at 6:52 PM ^
Ok, so the SEC, ACC, and Big-12 have no concerns about Liability ?!
Not to mention all the HS football that is being played around the country!
September 5th, 2020 at 7:02 PM ^
Have you connected this conspiracy to a child sex trafficking ring and George Soros yet??
September 5th, 2020 at 10:10 PM ^
No, no they don't. If you haven't figured out that the south has no morals when it comes to athletics then you haven't been paying attention
September 6th, 2020 at 12:23 AM ^
There's no high school football going on here (NC)
September 6th, 2020 at 2:03 AM ^
Apparently there is no liability from the 9,500 kids that are stuffed in the dorms, using community showers and bathrooms.
September 5th, 2020 at 11:50 PM ^
You are arguing that 14 individual presidents from the big ten decides to come together, turn down collectively 100s of MILLIONS of dollars, for the SOLE REASON to MAYBE make trump look bad? As if he doesn't do that for free every single fucking day that we wake up?
September 5th, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
So 1.5% of the team has an STD? Are they all dating that girl Jarbrill Peppers dated a few years ago???
September 5th, 2020 at 6:01 PM ^
Lennay Kekua ( old gf of Manti Te'o)
September 5th, 2020 at 11:22 PM ^
Didn't she claim he gave her chlamydia TWICE?
Like...had unprotected sex with the guy, got an STD, got treatment...had unprotected sex AGAIN with the same guy, got the same STD, and THEN got angry.
For all you single guys, she's out there, between the ages of 23 and 27. Protect yourselves. And ladies, Mr. Peppers is still out there too. Protect yourselves.

Just saw ND released their latest numbers from today.
They had zero positives out of 196 tests for the entire program this week.
There overall testing percentage is close to 99.9% negative for around total 2500 tests.
Isn’t that hard too play football if people try and don’t let biases get in the way.

Look, I’m very much on the cautious side with Covid.
But if they can test the players 3x a week (which they can)
and if they can have the university’s world renown cardiologists screen the players for heart disease/myocarditis (which they can) and hold the players at risk out for the year
then what exactly is the reason to not play right now?
September 6th, 2020 at 9:39 AM ^
Because Michigan isn't in charge of all of the other schools on the schedule.
September 5th, 2020 at 8:15 PM ^
Interesting to know what the hospitalization rate was, if any at all from those who tested positive at Michigan. Here's a screen shot from a guy who tabulated info from various Universities from data they have published on his Twitter feed.
Here's Michigan's dashboard but nothing on it shows if and any hospitalization info.

Either the Bigten and Pac12 end up looking intelligent in all of this or they will look like chumps. It all depends on whether these teams end up playing football all season or not without issues. It was a gamble from the time they made their choice.
September 5th, 2020 at 10:30 PM ^
Eh....they’ll both look like pussies! High schools will be playing in most BIG 10 states! BIG 10 is a laughing stock right now!
September 5th, 2020 at 10:24 PM ^
Been low for months across the entire state and general region!
September 5th, 2020 at 10:48 PM ^
Play the game.

Rose Bowl in May.
September 6th, 2020 at 7:12 AM ^
Isn’t the Rose Bowl the national championship game this year? We may get the chance to play in that stadium in May, but it won’t be the Rose Bowl Game.

The hilarious thing is how many people want to continue litigating the B1G's decision not to play football. It's done. Move on.
September 6th, 2020 at 9:30 AM ^
I wonder how much they are testing? I’ve heard less and less.
September 6th, 2020 at 2:54 PM ^
Why is this being downvoted? It seems a pretty relevant bit of information to me.
Is it downvoted because this data doesn't fit peoples' narratives about the risk of playing sports? We should be more mature than that.
September 10th, 2020 at 2:20 AM ^
Let them play!!
