Michigan acknowledging Fab Five on twitter with photos & videos

Obviously but still noteworthy.

Have never seen Michigan reference the Fab Five on social media much less post a photo of the entire group including Chris Webber.

The Fab Five has been in the football intro video for years now, and I'm almost certain they've used the Fab Five, including Webber, in other promotional stuff, especially after the disassociation ended in 2013.

It's time the mods put a moratorium on Fab Five threads. These things get started for one reason, and one reason only. The argument is tired. This is nothing more than trying to pick fights at this point.

"It's time the mods put a moratorium on Fab Five threads."

One interesting test for Howard will be how he deals with the inevitable questions about the FF and Ed Martin. Maybe he won't care who he pisses off, but if he wants to maintain the affection of all the various segments of the fan base, it will be a test of his verbal diplomatic skills.

It's time for you to stop hating on the Fab Five. They're part of this program again whether you like it or not. The threads won't be stopping anytime soon because of the news that'll come once the other guys start talking about Juwan which will lead to the inevitable reunion.

Harbaugh kicked the first brick out of the wall in November and now the whole thing is about to get dropped. Longtime coming.

Hang the banners and take a shit on Mark Emmert's porch.

You're not going to win this, old man. Trying to bury Fab 5 talk is like trying to bury Jim Harbaugh/NFL talk...but way harder.

The quickest way to end it, would be for you and everyone to embrace them. As long as there are high and mighty people turning up their nose...there will be people telling you why the banners should be hung and they should have lifetime courtside seats.

But you already knew that.

You need to let of go of your hang-ups, whatever they are, with the Fab Five.   Maybe they were a little over the top with some of their trash talk but so what, they were college guys having a good time and won a lot of games.  And only one player on those teams was implicated in the Ed Martin scandal.  Is it fair to the other 12 players on those teams to call them a bunch of cheaters?

At the same time, the faction making the "It's the school's fault!" argument needs to settle down too.  Yes, the school hates the FF so much it hired one to be the team's coach.

The hiring of Juwan might hopefully calm things down and let people move on.

I unapologetically love the Fab Five.  I was there when they were there and the excitement will never be replicated.  Period.  Another point to consider.  I distinctly remember Webber talking about seeing his jersey hanging in the windows of the stores around town and being frustrated and shocked at the inequity of it.  Don't remember if he said that as a student or afterwards.  Who wouldn't feel the same way?  And lo and behold what is the NCAA talking about right now?  Paying athletes for their names and likenesses.  The Fab Five (and Webber in particular) were trailblazers in more ways than one.

I agree with this.  I was a sophomore when the Fab 5 came in as freshmen.  They created an unbelievable amount of excitement and intrigue on campus and really all over the country.  I was at the Michigan basketball game when Webber walked in as a HS senior recruit and the crowd gave a standing ovation and chanted his name.  It was awesome!  I am proud to say that I was a student UM when they were there.  Great times.

Have to admit that I was skeptical when I first heard his name in the mix but I’ve come around.  Given the situation Beilein created with the timing of his exit I’m really happy with landing on Howard and already really excited for next season.  Also, hang the banners.

i don't know about putting up their banners, but given what has come out about the disgraceful true nature of college hoops, my 'outrage' meter has gone to about zero.  if they hang those banners i would lose no sleep about it.

It’s kind of hard to show videos of Howard’s playing days at Michigan (which any school welcoming an alumnus back as coach would do) without having the other Fab 5 players in the video.

Congratulations to Juwan Howard!!!  Thank you to Warde and the Athletic Department for representing the university with class, integrity and professionalism.

For all those who have needed everything from Melatonin to a brown paper bag to get through the last week: It will be OK.

Since sitting in class with, or  playing hoops at the CCRB with, Riley, Vaught, Coleman, Grbac, Pelinka, Hutchinson, or several other humble student athletes who proudly represented our school in Rose Bowls, National Championships and more, most of us have since experienced life's ups and downs, both great and small, which inevitably bring perspective that sport alone cannot.

I am proud of Juwan's accomplishments, not because he needs it from me, but because I (like so many others here) now better appreciate both the hard work and luck that lay the foundation for life's successes and failures.

We've watched our kids excel and fail, found and lost love, worried whether the choices and guidance we've given our children met their needs (or merely their wants.) I'm sure I (and others on this blog) have set the phone down or set back in their chair as others we've never met here have shared the passing and loss of spouses, children or dear friends.

Within the context of a picture much bigger than any of us, Michigan to me is about Leadership, Integrity and Competing at the highest level with Class and Honor.

Juwan will continue that tradition, and he will do so having come from humble Midwestern roots in Chicago and from a perspective in life that many will never be able to fully understand or appreciate.

Here's to Juwan, his success and OUR Michigan Family!!!  〽️ Go Blue, My Friends!!!

It's all good!

Beilein paved a solid path, took hard work and unrelenting integrity.

Michigan can now forge ahead on that path.

Looking forward to seeing where that will go!

If you are still hating on the Fab Five you probably wrote letters to the athletic department complaining about them back in the 90s.

Hang the Banners!

And while we are at it, bring back the full Fab Five uni with the big bad Block M on it:

Not that wimpy little 8-point font thing we have now.
