I listened to this game on my radio (a Sony Walkman, I recall) while I was at Joe Louis Arena watching Michigan v NMU in the NCAA hockey regional finals.

I remember the hockey team was down 6-3 with 20 seconds left in the second period.  They scored to make it 6-4 at the intermission and won it 7-6 in regulation to advance to their first Frozen Four in 15 years.  The overtime of the Michigan-Ohio State basketball game took place during the second intermission of the hockey game.

That might have been the peak 60 minutes of Michigan fandom ever--comeback wins in 2 different regional finals happening at almost exactly the same time.

Alton - thanks for recalling the hockey team, and the Regional Final.  In grad school at the time and recall the euphoria of sending Jim Jackson and the Bucks home while heading to the Final 4.  Then, hearing the M advance to the Frozen 4 shortly afterwards.  Electrifying day to be in A2!

Ok but doing MST3k to old sports games could be a hit. Like funny sportscasting making fun of everything. Maybe I’ll start. I got nothing else to do.

Was there in the upper deck.  It was the day after the UK-Duke game, so Lexington was subdued.  We were going to drive downtown Saturday night until stomach stompin' Laettner hit that shot.

OSU was so damn confident.  They were playing the fight song all throughout the concourse before the game.  Never felt so good driving through Ohio like I did after that game.
