MGoSurvey: Who should play in the BCS Title game?
Considering Ok. State's demolition in progress of Oklahoma, I ask that you take this survey: Who should play in the BCS Title game, and why?
Feel free to discuss what you think below. I'm voting for Ok. St, because I hate rematches, and feel that after this game, they deserve a shot.
Edit: If Ok. St. were to move up, it would be highly unlikely that we would play in the Sugar Bowl. We would almost certainly go to the Fiesta Bowl and play Stanford.
Edit 2: Survey Monkey limits me to getting the results to the first 100 responses before paywalling me. So I'll talk results here:
1. You overwhelmingly believe that Ok. State should be in it over Alabama, by a 85-15 margin.
2. #1 reason: Anti-rematch/we got jobbed 2006. Over half of you cited this as your reason.
3. Even among those who claimed that they chose the better team, they chose Ok. St.
Only #3 comes as a suprise.
Edit 3: Whoever's response to this question was F Ohio, +1.

Ok St
BCS chaos!
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:31 PM ^
Here's why:
(1) Conference champions.
(2) OSU has defeated much better teams than Alabama. I believe 5 Top 25 wins for OSU and 2 for Alabama.
(3) No rematch. 2006!
(4) Would like to see Weeden-Blackmon against Claiborne/Matthieu (sp?).

well said . . . .

They are obviously the two best teams in the nation, if you think there's a real argument against that, you must not actually watch the games. This is why I have no issue with a rematch. If the two best teams aren't playing for the national championship, the game loses its legitimacy. Let's not get caught up in this blowout in Stillwater, OU is simply overrated and disinterested.

The "nation" does not refer to the old Confederacy.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
So if the two best teams in baseball both happen to be in the American league, they should meet for the World Series?
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Well since the MLB has a playoff system and college football does not, I would say no. Find an analogy that isn't apples and oranges.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
I'm not sure how you define "playoff", but to me a game the outcome of which determines who is the champion is a playoff. It doesn't matter whether that playoff is a stupid 2 team. one game "tournament" or something more elaborate.
The point is playoffs don't necessarily involve the two best teams in a sport due to the structure of the playoff system.

Well by your definition of playoff, the BCS is a playoff system, so its safe to say your definition is a joke and you're not sure what you're talking about. In a system where there is no playoff route TO the championship game (such as the BCS) the two best teams (determined by resume and simple observation) should meet in the championship game. This year, those two teams are LSU and Bama.

Judging by you point total, it seems like you might be new around here. Just so you know, people here generally appreciate well reasoned arguments and debates. Labeling someone's definition as "a joke" without providing reasons why that definition is a joke is not a well reasoned, mature debate.

You must watch a lot of ESPN to blindly believe their bullshit. If you actually watched the games you would form your own opinion.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:17 PM ^
If you have watched even one Alabama or LSU game this season you would have realized (unless you cannot make simple observations about football) that they are on a different level than any other team in thecountry. ESPN has nothing to do with this, as it is an obvious fact.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:25 PM ^
Or Gary Danielson...? Is that you?
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:29 PM ^
"they are on a different level than any other team in thecountry."
That definitely sounds like an opinion, not a fact.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:51 PM ^
They are on a different level of suck when it comes to their passing games, that's for sure. ESPN plays a massive role in shaping opinions, and they do everyone a disservice by promoting a rematch of that piece of shit game we just saw a few weeks ago. They are so full of shit!!!
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:57 PM ^
I agree. Okla St. - LSU
December 4th, 2011 at 3:32 AM ^
Alabama is trying to get a free pass. Their defense has played one offense worth mentioning all year and that arkansas. they played 4 teams that finished with a winning record and went 3-1 in those 4 games. they have done nothing to deserve a rematch or a number 2 ranking. The espn homers are ridiculous , I hope Ok state gets a shot and i will cheering for them. The Sec bias this year is over the top. I hope we get some good Sec vs.big ten match ups this year
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
Alabama had their chance.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:38 PM ^
Bingo.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:49 PM ^
Ok State had their chance against against a shitty Iowa State team that Alabama would've beaten by 35.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
Bama had a chance against LSU whom Ok State is going to beat by 35.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:05 PM ^
You don't know that. So please stfu.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:34 PM ^
LSU and Alabama. They are the two best teams. No argument.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:38 PM ^
Alabama has beaten three teams with a winning record. Arkansas, Penn State (not that good), and 7-5 Auburn.
Clearly they are better than Arkansas, but that doesn't mean they are the 2nd best team in the country.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
He said "no argument", so that settles it. Come on.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
Yeah man. You can't argue with "no argument." He already called it. That's almost as taboo as stamping a double-stamp. Or, shudder, arguing against the all-powerful "nuff' said."

lsu is clearly the best team in the country. alabama had a chance to prove they were better and already failed. oklahoma state deserves a shot, especially considering the way they are absolutely demolishing oklahoma right now.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
I like our chances
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:37 PM ^
Okie State
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
wouldnt that then send Bama to the Sugar Bowl instead of us?
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:58 PM ^
it would send bama to the sugar bowl, and michigan would likely end up at the fiesta bowl, though the sugar bowl would still be in play. it wouldn't affect our shot at a bcs bowl though, if that's what you're wondering about.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^
Purely selfish reasons...basically if Michigan got snubbed for the "rematch" BS in 2006, then the same should happen to Alabama, especially in light of this demolition of OU by Okie State.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:40 PM ^

LSU and Oklahoma State should be the NC game..and I feel strongly about that...fyi
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:42 PM ^
LSU-Bama
Why? I want to go to the Sugar Bowl.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:08 PM ^
As opposed to the Fiesta Bowl?
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:27 PM ^
Over Nowhereville, Arizona?

Uhm, yeah, maybe.
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:44 PM ^
Would be the correct pairing but I think Alabama vs LSU would be a better game.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
I don't.
The first one was seriously one of the worst games I've ever seen. Booooooooooring.
On the other hand, seeing OSU's offense against LSU's D? Yes, please.

Saying it again doesn't make it true. I have to tell my kids that all the time . . . shouldn't have to tell an adult.
December 3rd, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
Are non-SEC teams even eligible for the Title Game? Because there's no way they should be.
-Gary Danielson
December 3rd, 2011 at 10:48 PM ^
should come out of two brackets of 4 teams.
I think LSU would end up playing USC if bowl eligible. But they're not so it would be OK State.

Oklahoma State.
